Most people take Colorado short breaks in the winter for the excellent skiing that the state offers and everyone knows it is superb. However, people should travel to Colorado in the summer too because it is truly as fascinating destination with amazing views and picturesque scenery. From the Colorado airports, you will easily get to any destination in the state Denver is a cosmopolitan city that offers everything that you could ask for at very reasonable prices from accommodations to meals. From Denver, you will travel up into the Rocky Mountains that will bring you into small towns and villages which are filled with fantastic and friendly people. Colorado short breaks are great at the highest town in the Rockies which is called Leadville, the world famous skiing town of Aspen, and the odd gambling town of Silverton. There are Indian reserves and the corners monument, the only place in the United States where four states met in a corner. A short drive out of Colorado brings up Arches National Park of Utah which is also a great trip.
Aspen is a wonderful place for Colorado short breaks. The park system in Aspen is over forty acres which has a variety of recreational opportunities from sports, facilities to picnic spots. In a number of the parks there are water fountains and historical and natural resources. Just minutes for downtown Aspen, set in the sublime setting of the Rockies, is an 18 hole golf course of the Aspen Golf and Tennis Club. The club is fully stacked with a golf and tennis pro shop, a driving range, chipping, and putting greens, and all of the amenities of a first class facility. The Aspen Ice Garden has an 85 by 185 surface which is regarded by many as one of the best maintained ice rinks in the regions The Aspen Ice Garden offers a variety of skating activities such as public skating, skating lessons, figure skating, a youth and adult hockey group, private rink rentals, birthday parties, and skating shows. Another venue is the Lewis Ice Arena which was completed in 2003 and has a National Hockey League regulation size ice surface and grandstand seating for 450 people. The Aspen Recreation Center which is normally referred to as ARC is a new state of the art complex and a multi use sports facility that offers among other things: a 32 foot climbing tower, a youth center, and five multi use playing fields. Included in the full range of facilities are group conference rooms and food and beverage outlets.
Colorado short breaks to Colorado Springs is a great way to relax and to take a break from the fast pace of everyday life. There is plenty to see and do in Colorado Springs like the ghost town which is a great place to take the children for some Wild West fun. The park is made up of authentic 19th century buildings with a sheriff's office, salon, jail, blacksmith, livery stable, rooming house, and an assay office. Visitors have the feel of stepping back in time. The Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs is one of the West's most unusual geological sites and is an enormous rock garden of dramatic red sandstone formations and creations. This is an area that has 1,000 year old junipers and a variety of flora and fauna living in Colorado. All and all Colorado and the surrounding area is a wonderful place during the winter and the summer and should be on anyone's short list for a fantastic holiday.
