Everything from dinosaurs to Sinbad and Merlin at Islands of Adventure

Added: 03/08/2006

The Islands of Adventure is an excellent theme park, located in Orlando, Florida. Consisting of six theme "islands", the park has a wonderful appeal for adventure lovers. Here is the Jurassic Park, set in the time of the Jurassic Park movie with a discovery center, a children playground and, certainly, dinosaurs. Here is the Marvel Super Hero Island with rides and attractions, reminiscent of Marvel comic books.

The Islands of Adventure, a sister park of the Universal Studios Orlando Florida, is a true adventure for numerous families, visiting the park's magical areas daily. As a whole, it is a wonderful world of earth's history and evolution, laid in the basis of the Jurassic Park, movies and stories that contribute to the development of the Islands of Adventure's concepts, myths and reality combined as a whole.

The Islands of Adventure consists of six distinct "islands" or theme areas, each distinguished with its own style and character. The adventure starts with the Port of Entry, a center for shopping and dining, masterfully designed as an Arabian bazaar. The Confisco Grille is a renowned restaurant in the Port of Entry.

Next to the Port of Entry you will find the Marvel Super Hero Island, definitely created for super heroes with its rides, reminiscent of Marvel comic books. Its "butterflies in your stomach" rides include the Incredible Hulk Coaster, the only launched Bolliger and Mabillard roller coaster, The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, a simulator ride set in New York, Doctor Doom's Fearfall, a vertically launched ride, and the Storm Force Accelatron, which is a faster version of the traditional Teacup ride.

The Jurassic Park is a splendid replica of the Jurassic Park movie. The sensation of the area is the Jurassic Park River Adventure, where riders can view animatronic dinosaurs and experience an eighty five foot drop, while escaping the jaws of a menacing T-Rex. The Jurassic Park Discovery Center is a version of the fictional Visitor Center of the movie with a recreation of the dinosaur skeletons in the center's lobby. Kids can have fun in the Camp Jurassic, a children's play area.

Continuing your exploration of the Islands of Adventure, you find yourself in the Lost Continent, a wonderfully represented mix of Greek, Arabian and Medieval Mythology, based on the stories of Atlantis, Sinbad and Merlin. The announce of the area is the Dueling Dragons, an inverted dueling roller coaster with two different tracks, called the Fire and Ice. The Islands of Adventure's Lost City is home to enormously stunning shows, such as Poseidon's Fury, a special effects adventure to Poseidon's lost city and the Eighth Voyage of Sinbad, a live action stunt show. At the entrance to the Lost Continent, there is Mythos, a casual sit-down restaurant, voted as the best restaurant at the Islands of Adventure.

The Toon Lagoon is a theme area, specially geared toward both kids and adults. The area contains the Dudley Do-right's Ripsaw Falls, a traditional flume ride, advertised to have the steepest drop of any log flume in America (70° pitch), and Popeye and Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges, river rapids. It also has a playground for kids, Me Ship, the Olive.

Seuss Landing is the only "island" at the Islands of Adventure, created for kids and for kids only. Based on the works of the author Dr. Seuss, it has several Seuss-themed rides, including the Caro-Seuss-el, The Cat in the Hat Ride and If I Ran the Zoo, an interactive play zone for kids.
