Internet radio can be defined as broadcasting via the Internet, referred sometimes as "streaming". Not every Internet radio station features the corresponding traditional radio station, many of them being completely independent and broadcast on the Internet only. Relayed over the Internet, a radio signal makes it possible to get easy access to nearly every station in the world, which contributes to its popularity among expatriates and people interested in the music trends that may not be catered for by the local radio stations.

Since its introduction in the early 1900's, radio shows have been recognized as a popular form of entertainment with the content ranging generally from comedy and drama to news, sporting competition and music. However with the introduction of television, the popularity of radio shows began to decline in the late 1940s. The radio broadcasting form has changed to what we know it today, focusing strongly on news, sports and music. But radio shows remain in one form or another and surely always will.
