This year the Eurovision Song contest celebrated its fiftieth anniversary and hosted more participants than ever. These were thirty nine countries, among which Moldova and Bulgaria made their debuts. The contest consisted of two parts - the qualifier night and the final. Twenty-four countries rivaled in the final and Greece took the victory with the song "You're my number one", performed by Helena Paparizoy.
