The Festival of Lights is strictly observed in Indian and Jewish cultures. It is used in reference to the Jewish festival, Hanukkah, and the Hindu festival, Diwali, both of which are recognized as the prominent events of religious significance. Owing to constant migrations, the Festival of Lights is celebrated now by Indians and Jewish people in various parts of the world.

Throughout its history, Europe has been exposed to strong influence on part of the other continents. Constant penetrations of one culture into another have resulted in the diversity of European customs and traditions.
