The Tomato Festival, referred to as La Tomatina is held annually in August in Bunol, Valencia, Spain. Thousands of visitors from all over the world come to participate in a battle, where the citizenry takes to the streets to throw nearly one hundred ton of tomatoes at each other. The holiday is inconsistent in date, held on the last Wednesday in August. The 2005 Tomato Festival occurred on August 31.
