The majority of cities in Italy have their own carnival celebration and it tends to be very different. Some carnivals last for a month, some for a week and some for only one day. Some cities get going right after epiphany -- January 6th. Those are the towns that do not want to waste any time. They are really into the carnival experience; however, most carnivals run during the month of February.
