It worth to see Olso with its plentry of sights and good nightlife. It is one of the largest capitals in the world by area. Oslo enjoys one of the highest standards of living of any city on earth. Take time to walk in Oslo's forests. You can visit the ski-museum. Among top attraction in Oslo are: The Norwegian Folk Museum; Viking Ship Museum; City Hall; The Munch Museum.

Oslo has plenty of sights, good nightlife and is worth seeing. And you have made a right decision if you choose to go on oslo vacations. Oslo, with its approximately 453 square kilometers, is one of the largest capitals in the world by area. Granted, most of this is forest, but it is a highly appreciated recreational area by most of Oslo's inhabitants.

Norway's capital and largest city creeps up on you and makes you very glad you came. Possessed of a staid reputation and by no measure Scandinavia's most beautiful city, low-key Oslo nonetheless has lots to see and do - it just doesn't make such a big fuss about it.

Oslo has warm summers and manageable (though decidedly dark) winters.
Today, Oslo enjoys one of the highest standards of living of any city on earth. In 2004 Oslo was ranked the 15th most expensive city to live in in the world. It's one of the top 10 cities in the world in area, its suburbs having spread rapidly in recent decades. This suburban sprawl has the advantage of gathering in the green outskirts, making the city one of the world's most densely forested.

Being on oslo vacations find time to walk in Oslo's many forests. The area around Holmenkollen (T-bane 1) is well suited for cross-country skiing, but also a nice area for hiking during summertime. While you are there, you can also visit the ski-museum which is located close to the ski-jump. For additional fun, buy a cheap sledge or "akebrett", and sleigh down from Frognerseteren station. If you buy a day-card for the subway, you can race all day long, but make sure you are well dressed, as you are going to get wet.

If you are on oslo vacations in summertime, you can also take one of the ferries out to various islands in the Oslo-fjord. On oslo vacations you should experinece nightlife. Oslo has a surprisingly large selection of restaurants, nightclubs and bars considering the population size. All bars, pubs and restaurants in Oslo are smoke-free. Which means you have to go outside to smoke. But since you can't drink on the street, you have to leave your drink inside. Oslo is in general very expensive. However, there are neighbourhoods and pubs with more reasonable prices.

Among top attraction in Oslo are: The Norwegian Folk Museum, which is the largest museum of cultural history in Norway. Set in beautiful surroundings, it boasts fascinating exhibits reflecting Norwegian heritage. Don't miss the distinctive wooden stave church dating from 1200, as well as the period costumes and Lapp exhibitions. Viking Ship Museum; City Hall, which houses splendid murals by some of Norway's most respected artists; The Munch Museum, which is probably best known for his painting The Scream; The Royal Palace, the city's main avenue.

Getting a hotel in Oslo can potentially be difficult. It would be smart if you reserve a room in advance. There are also relatively few youth hostels, etc., for backpackers and people travelling on a budget. Getting a reservation beforehand is essential during peak periods.
