Seafood has acquired a name of nourishing, low fat, and appetizing food. You see in a supermarket shrimp, prawns, fish, lobster, and crab and think that it will be a good idea to buy something to very your everyday menu, but... you have never made seafood dishes. Do not worry. We all do some things for the first time when we think that it is not for us and we will never manage to do it. Actually, there is a lot of easy seafood recipes that look like specially created for those who have a first hand at making seafood dishes. Easy seafood recipes do not need much time and experience to be put into life. Some of them will ask you just to mix the ingredients and put the dish into the fridge to some hours, and you seafood dish is ready. Italian seafood recipes will be evaluated by pasta connoisseurs who like not only eating but cooking as well.
To cut a long story short, I would like to offer you some easy seafood recipes that will give an opportunity to improve your cooking skills and to treat your family and friends.
I think this lobster salad recipe is quite easy for even beginners. For 6 serves take:
2 tablespoons fresh lemon or lime juice
1/2 cup mayonnaise
12 ounces cooked lobster, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
1/4 cup diced cucumber
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped celery
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
Salt and pepper to taste
Dash hot pepper sauce.
Combine the juice and mayonnaise. Gently toss with remaining ingredients. Chill. Serve in Lobster tails or on salad greens. Garnish with lemon slices if desired.
I think you will agree with me that among easy seafood recipes the easiest ones are salads. I hope you will like this Dijon crab salad. For 4 serves you will need:
1/2 pound Maryland backfin crabmeat, cartilage removed
1 tablespoon carrots, shredded
1/3 cup celery, diced
1/3 cup cucumber, sliced thin
1/4 cup apple with skin, diced
romaine lettuce leaves
Dijon Dressing:
1 cup salad oil
1/4 cup dijon mustard
1/4 cup white wine tarragon vinegar
1 teaspoon persillade
Gently toss together crabmeat, vegetables and apple. To prevent apple from turning brown, dip in a mixture of 1 tablespoon lemon juice and 1 cup of water. Serve salad on a bed of romaine lettuce.Mix together all the dressing ingredients. Stir until blended. Serve with dressing.
If you want to combine seafood with some other ingredients than spices and vegetables, take pasta. Seafood tastes well with it. Seafood pasta dishes are good for lunch and dinner. I offer you to make tuna macaroni salad dish. For 2 serves you will need:
2 cups lettuce - torn
1 package corkscrew macaroni - 5 oz - cooked and drained
1 can tuna-6 1/8 oz. drained - flaked
1 medium tomato - cut into wedges
1 celery rib - sliced
1 carrot - peeled & sliced
1 small cucumber - sliced
1/4 cup green pepper strips
1 cup broccoli florets
1/2 cup provolone or mozzarella - cheese; julienned.
Dressing:
1/4 cup olive oil
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 small garlic clove - minced
1 1/2 teaspoons white wine vinegar
3/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper.
On two salad plates, arrange the first 10 ingredients in order listed.
In a jar with tight-fitting lid, combine dressing ingredients; shake well.
Pour over salads and serve immediately.
