Each Seattle museum has something to intrigue you

Added: 03/29/2006

Seattle is famed for its breathtaking views, ranging from majestic mountains, infinite waters and evergreen forests. Seattle is also known as the coffee capital of the United States. The rapid growth and development of Seattle has brought the city to another worldwide talk. Seattle is a city of architectural oddities and sightseeing mysteries. Some of these make part of Seattle museum life, vibrant with new exhibits, shows and educational programs.

Along with admiring breathtaking views of Seattle natural and architectural landscape, it is a must for a traveler to visit each Seattle museum. Many of Seattle museums contain artworks, artifacts and exhibits that can be found nowhere else in the world, and it is almost impossible to succeed in keeping eye on Seattle museum life. There are events and celebrations everyday, while new and unique facilities regularly open their doors to curious visitors. Each Seattle museum has something to surprise and intrigue you as you come to explore its heritage.

In 2004, a millionaire Paul Allen, the former co-owner of Microsoft, opened the Science Fiction Museum and the Hall of Fame, the world premier museum of the science fiction. The museum has several thematically planned galleries, such as "Homeworld," "Fantastic Voyages," "Brave New Worlds" and "Them!". Each gallery shows related memorabilia (movie props, first editions, costumes and models) in large display cases, posters and interactive displays to sketch out the different subjects.

Another sensation is Seattle Museum of Flight, one of the largest air and space museums in the world, attended by four hundred thousand visitors annually. The famous exhibits are one hundred and fifty historically significant air- and spacecraft as well as the Red Barn®-the original manufacturing facility of The Boeing Co. You can also see here the first presidential jet plane, a specially built Boeing 707-120, known as SAM (Special Air Missions) 970, and learn a fascinating history of aviation birth through rare original authentic documents and interactive exhibits.

A very interesting and educational experience is a visit to Seattle Museum of Communications, earlier known as the Vintage Telephone Equipment Museum. The museum traces the history of the telephone, starting from 1876 first models of Alexander Graham Bell to the phones of today.

Thrilling adventure awaits the visitors of the Museum of Mysteries in Seattle. The museum's collections and exhibits are dedicated to the physic and paranormal phenomena, alternative energy sources, UFOs, weather changes and other hot issues of our days. The display, presented by the Amateur Ghost Hunting Society of Seattle and Tacoma, includes stories and investigations of ghosts with photos. Another large display is the Sasquatch, according to which Sasquatches are counted in approximately two thousand with four hundred sightings annually.

MOHAI (the Museum of History and Industry) is the Seattle museum of real history! The displays and one point five million historic photos are combined with hands-on activities, lectures, panel discussions and walking tours. One of current featured exhibitions is Fashion at MOHAI that provides an original look at the mid-century fashion and fantabulous Theatre de la Mode 1/3 scale fashion mannequins and sets. There is also an exhibition, dedicated to one of the most significant events in Seattle, the Gold Rush.

While walking from one Seattle museum to another, drop in one or another Seattle church (there are many of them) to take a rest, enjoy a serene atmosphere and calm down your running high imagination. The diversity of Seattle church movements is, perhaps, another distinguishable feature of the city. You can find here any church you need from Catholic to Presbyterian and Christian and from the oldest setting to modern downtown.
