Coffee is the most popular drink in the world. There are a lot of coffee types mostly depending upon various coffee plants grown in different parts of the world. Coffee is made of coffee beans, which are prepared by roasting (usually) or aging, then grounded (the intensity of grinding also varies a lot) and brewed in several different ways. Only instant coffee does not require brewing, but then, coffee-lovers often relate to it quite scornfully, as according to them it is not what is called fresh coffee. Even presentation of coffee may be in different styles. Coffee has become a part of the culture of each particular country and the presentation of this all-time favorite involves many social aspects.
Among the types of coffee the most popular ones are espresso, cappuccino and Turkish coffee. A lot of types of coffee are actually espresso and cappuccino variations, which have the same way of brewing, although, they differ in an amount of water, sugar or milk, flavors and presentation. So-called "dual coffee" is not a type. The same espresso or cappuccino can be termed as dual coffee, if a double ratio of coffee is used or coffee is brewed twice in a special manner. Sometimes a particular name is given to a certain type of dual coffee, for instance, espresso doppio is made with the use of a double amount of coffee per cup.
The purpose of making dual coffee is to get a richer taste and aroma. The most widespread recipe recommends boiling the first portion of coffee, then adding the second and heating it again. Sugar and milk can be added to your taste. Devoted coffee fans appreciate a distinguishing taste of coffee, made in such a manner.
Almost all coffee makers have a "dual coffee" or "dual espresso" function. Vending machines also allow to obtain such double shots for those, who prefer really strong coffee. However, the principle is different. Normally, such coffee, prepared in coffee-makers and vending machines, obtains its "duality" by an extra amount of coffee. A very concentrated taste is granted, although, coffee experts insist that coffee, made in this way, lacks the aroma and flavor of traditionally prepared dual coffee.
Finally, a double-sized mug of coffee may also be referred as dual. All you get in this case is actually two cups of a usual "single" coffee, served as one. In this case, coffee does not have to be always fresh - instant coffee may be used or even liquid coffee concentrate and canned or bottled coffee. Not to become confused, check with the coffee house first.
All three ways of getting dual coffee provide you with a double content of caffeine. A coffee effect on the people's health is a constant topic for discussion, however, what is indisputable - it is the fact that caffeine is a drug. That is why taking dual coffee should be reasonable, especially if it is dual espresso - espresso itself is quite strong type of coffee. In addition, children, pregnant women, elderly people and those, who have health problems, which may be worsened by caffeine consumption, should avoid dual coffee made by any method.
