Flying J - fly away from urban high-tech

Added: 04/12/2006

Flying Js are located on interstate highways all over the US. Flying J is the ideal place to stop for relaxation, food, and also to amuse the kids. Some of them are seeking to bring back a simpler lifestyle, using less energy than the current high tech style being promoted today. Look for Flying J the next time you take a long car ride. You might be surprised at what you discover there.

Have you discovered Flying J truck stops and travel plazas? Flying Js are located on interstate highways all over the US. Those of you who think truck stops are only for truckers driving big rigs,  need to take a second look. Flying Js are the ideal places to stop for relaxation, food, and also to amuse the kids.

Most Flying J stops offer a wide range of activities for adults as well as kids. There is usually a store or gift shop where you can buy all that stuff for the road, as well as food and drink. You can rent a video book or two at one stop, and then return them at the next one . This really cuts down the boredom on long drives. The stores also have little games and toys that are cheap at price and can entertain you for hours. There are also loads of novelty gifts, t-shirts, and funny stuff, like the rattle snake in a can, or the California earthquake in a can.

Some Flying J's have restaurants where you can order pizza or a full dinner. Each Flying J is different. There are Sub Shops, and even all-you-can-eat buffets in some of the stops. The stores also offer hot foods like burritos or fried chicken that you can order for the journey.

Some Flying J's now have showers, and even rooms for rent. These are tightly regulated, and are mainly in use by the truckers, but families may find these items useful too. Most of the stops do have full service hotels and motels within walking distance. Flying J even features a frequent fuel program where you can get further discounts on fueling, food, and other services.

There is usually ample space for the kids to run and play, walk the dog, and generally stretch the limbs after long rides. Flying J's are located all over the US, and usually stand along major interstate freeways.

Visit the mythical town of Bonita City, a place that knows no zip code and is still a long way off from cellphone reception. Bonita City is generally a quiet, tranquil place during the heat of the day. Nothing breaks the peace of this place except for the sounds coming from the Flying J chuckwagon where Cookie is working on the biscuit dough, getting that barbeque chicken and beef ready... and the ever-present sound of the bubbling and  boiling of the cheapest pinto beans.

The Flying J Wranglers will take the stage for an hour of great music and good clean family-styled laughs. Get ready to laugh, cry and cheer. There's nothing quite like the Flying J Wranglers. It's an experience you'll come back for again and again.

The Flying J Farm is another place that is dedicated to holding back the tide in this small part of the world. They also believe that some of our heritage can be seen in old buildings, old machines, and old ways of doing things when life was less complex and less stressful. Where they can, they are seeking to bring back a simpler lifestyle, using less energy than the current high tech style being promoted by the media.

They encourage a vegetarian diet based on mostly raw food. They believe that humans are not well designed to digest animal products and many of our diseases result from this source of food. Further, they believe that meaningful relationships with family, community, and God are essential to thrive in harmony with each other and our environment.
Look for these places the next time you take a long car ride. You might be surprised at what you discover there.
