Kansai is the western region of Honshu, the main Japanese island; the area that is also known as Kinki region with the meaning "near the capital", referring to the former capital of Japan, Kyoto. It houses seven prefectures that are Hyogo, Kyoto, Mie, Nara, Osaka, Wakayama and Shiga. The region is second to Tokyo's Kanto in population and is famous for the stunning beauty of landscapes, as well as for an absorbing history of its main cities and their historical and cultural attractions.

The city of Osaka, located in Kansai region of the main island of Honshu, Japan, has something that you will never encounter in any other places on our huge planet. Its Kaiyukan Aquarium is the largest in the world. The word Kaiyukan literally means "Playing in the Sea Pavilion" and in this aquarium you can actually enjoy sea animals, as if you are playing together with them in the sea.
