The capital of the federal state of Hesse, Wiesbaden is located on the right bank of the River Rhine, within short distance from Frankfurt am Main. As of 2006, it has 274,000 inhabitants. Known for its spa and thermal springs, Wiesbaden has a well developed bathing business which became significant for the city at the end of the Middle Ages.
