Located about 76 miles northwest of Hannover and 74 miles southwest of Hamburg, Bremen is the oldest coastal city in Germany, ranked second after Hamburg among German ports. Nestled along the River Weser, some 30 miles south from its outflow into the North Sea, Bremen is the oldest coastal city in the nation and is second only to Hamburg among German ports. A number of the city's sights can be found in the Altstadt - an area surrounded by the Stadtgraben on the northeast and the Weser River on the southwest.
