Why does the Swinton Park Hotel have the highest rates among all accommodation facilities throughout Yorkshire and Cumbria? In fact, there are many reasons: it is deluxe and affordable, chic and comfortable, with a scenic setting and for families, tastefully themed and deliciously welcoming.
Spectacularly set in 200 acres of parkland, lakes and gardens, the Swinton Park Castle is an ancestral home of the Cunliffe-Lister family. It is surrounded by the family estate with an access to rivers, reservoirs, moorland, dales and a beautiful countryside, bordering the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The rooms at the Swinton Park Hotel are impressive in their variety of designs and styles. In addition to all comforts, such as dial telephones, a modem point, a CD player, a satellite TV, bedrooms are individually designed and decorated on the theme of a Yorkshire town, dale, castle, abbey or garden, according to the aspect of each room. Hence, you may choose from Bradford or Fountains Abbey, Middleham or Bolton Castle, and many other "castles, dukes or earls' apartments and suites" to indulge your most extravagant taste.
The Swinton Park Hotel's Samuel's 3 AA rosette Restaurant and its reputable chef Andy Burton emphasize the tastes of local products, such as fruit, vegetables and herbs from the hotel's walled garden, estate venison, rabbit, smoked trout and game. The visitors indulge their palate, choosing from the Dinner menu and Tasting Menu, Lunch menu and Sunday Lunch, Bar and Lounge menu, Banqueting Menus, Canapé Menu and BBQ Menu, while the abundance of dishes, featured in each menu, leaves much to explore for each consecutive day of staying at the Swinton Park. The menus feature an extensive selection of wines and cheeses. Cheeses range from Yorkshire Dales locals to the UK and Continent high quality varieties.
The hotel's spa is equipped with a sauna, Jacuzzi and relaxation zone. Four treatment rooms offer a wide range of face, body, beauty and complementary therapies, while you enjoy warm natural light and lush tropical vegetation all-around.
Walking through the Hotel Park and gardens delivers visitors not only enjoyment, but also an adventure and discovery. The Spring Garden is bright in colors with bluebells, daffodils, cherry blossom, rhododendrons and azaleas during April, May and June. The Top Lake has several druids' seats, a large grotto and a summerhouse in the middle of the island. The Quarry Gill Bridge, impressive in its construction, provides dramatic views on a stream that cascades down into several pools. Even deer inhabit here, today there are one hundred fallow deer, including ten stags, wondering leisurely around a deer house, built in the mid 1880's. All seasonal production, such as asparagus, artichokes, blueberries and autumn fruiting raspberries, a wide variety of herbs and other exotic crops, featured in the restaurant menus, is grown in the Walled Garden. There are also ten varieties of apple trees and an acre of land, planted out with flowers.
The recent addition to the Swinton Park Hotel is a state of the art Cookery School, located in the restored Georgian stables, run by a celebrity chef, Rosemary Shrager. Rosemary is a reputable chef and teacher, having starred in several TV series and has worked with Pierre Koffmann at Tante Claire and Jean Christoffe Novelli.
