The sphere of childcare employment is rather vast. There're many various childcare jobs and there always some vacant positions for those who seek for the job. Of course there still stay some traditional households where a father earns money and a mother stays at home and looks after children. In other cases the other relatives or friends or simply the elderly children might look after the younger ones. These families usually don't need any extra help in breeding their children, they quite manage themselves. But yet there appear more and more families where both parents work and none of them would give up a career to stay at home with a baby, sometimes there's only one parent and he/she needs to work and to earn money. This is exactly when childcare employment comes into play.

Childcare works have different names, they work with children either at home, or in kindergartens, or in public childcare centers, in preschools and in other institutions. They work with children of all ages and according to the child's age and demands the work they do may vary. So babysitters deal with infants, nannies may work with a child from the very birth to the primary schools, preschool teachers give the basic knowledge to the kid that are getting ready to enter the school, childcare centers and kindergarten workers have various functions from nursing to entertaining and teaching.

Babysitters mostly work in private households. Basically to become one you don't need much. Sometimes the parents might require a high school diploma or can ask you about your previous experience, very often this nursing job is don by teenagers or elderly people who've already retired. Eventually it's up to the parents to decide on whom they can rely and whom they can leave their baby with to be sure that he/she's safe and satisfied.

Very often it's a part time job. They non of the parents can't stay with a baby they contact to their babysitter and make their arrangement. Sometimes they fix the days and the time when the babysitter's help is required. The place of work can vary - it can either be the house of the baby's parent, or it can be the babysitter's apartment. And this job is hourly paid.

Nannies deal with a little bit older and more conscious children. Families that employ a nanny are less common than those who invite a babysitter. What does a nanny do? She looks after the children, prepares them meals on time, watches them washing their hands clean, make them behave themselves, organizes their spare time, offer some educational games, takes them out, answer their questions, give them some basic knowledge about the world, deals with the psychological issues that might appear, watches them being dressed properly, check their self-feeling and health and so on. Very often these type of worked deal not only with the childcare employment but also do a job of a housekeeper, that includes cleaning, laundry, cooking and some other duties. A nanny can be either a day one or can live with the family. Second variant is less common nowadays.

Childcare worker who work in various public places and organizations are making some of the true childcare career. They usually need special diplomas and certificates and experience in dealing with children of all ages. Although these conditions aren't a must. It depends. Some of these childcare worker are more likely to be called teachers and educators, some do more of entertaining job. In the kindergartens and other institutions of this they are doing rather a complex job and have a lot of responsibilities especially because they deal with the groups of children. So it's when childcare employment changes from a sort of a part time occupation to a profession.
