Chessington World of Adventure, a large theme park in south London, consists of many areas. The Animal Land contains gorillas, tigers, monkeys, and more. Chessington World of Adventure, a large theme park in south London, is within a walking distance of Chessington South Station. For car drivers, Chessington is located 12 miles from central London on the A243 and just 2 miles from the A3. Chessington theme park consists of many areas: Animal Land, Forbidden Kingdom, Market Square, Mexicana, Mystic East, Pirates Cove, Toytown, Transylvania, Hocus Pocus Hall, Tomb Blaster and Dragon's Fury, to name a few.
Chessington theme park was a zoo in the past. Today the Animal Land homes gorillas, two tigers, a sealion enclosure, a reptiles house and monkeys. The central area with numerous shops, the Market Square, also contains the entrance to the Safari Skyway, which takes visitors on a ride around the park allowing panoramic views of the Animal Land. The brave will be glad to venture into the Forbidden Kingdom where Rameses waits for his ultimate revenge. Now the Rameses Revenge is one of the most intense rides in the park.
The Mexicana is a home to a mine-train ride aimed at younger visitors and to the Rattlesnake ride, a steel wild-mouse rollercoaster having sharp turns and sudden drops. Young adventurers and their parents enjoy the Orient delights by journeying into the Mystic East. They walk through a tunnel where an enormously spectacular Buddha sits guarding the entrance to the tunnel. They float through the land of Dragon Falls and step into the Oriental Express to taste Chinese food.
The Transylvania homes the Vampire rollercoaster, a world-first ride with riders suspended and their legs dangling and swinging free. The Pirates Cove is a home to the Black Buccaneer, a pirate ship ride. Adventurers can get a feeling of sinking on this swinging ride. The Toytown, a wonderful place for the smallest adventurers, offers to fly on an elephant's back. The Toytown contains a small Cadbury's Castle shop and a number of gentle rides aimed at younger visitors.

The dragon-themed zone contains mostly children's rides, but the Dragon's Fury, a spinning wild-mouse style rollercoaster, really provides big thrills.
Chessington theme park has a good selection of family coasters providing a good level of thrills without being too extreme for young children.
