Chessington World of Adventure, a large theme park in south London, is within a walking distance of Chessington South Station. For car drivers, Chessington is located 12 miles from central London on the A243 and just 2 miles from the A3. Chessington theme park consists of many areas: Animal Land, Forbidden Kingdom, Market Square, Mexicana, Mystic East, Pirates Cove, Toytown, Transylvania, Hocus Pocus Hall, Tomb Blaster and Dragon's Fury, to name a few.
Chessington theme park was a zoo in the past. Today the Animal Land homes gorillas, two tigers, a sealion enclosure, a reptiles house and monkeys. The central area with numerous shops, the Market Square, also contains the entrance to the Safari Skyway, which takes visitors on a ride around the park allowing panoramic views of the Animal Land.
