Casual clothes shopping - a mess in your wardrobe

Added: 01/12/2006

Being a teen is cool and difficult at the same time. Teens often buy things that turn out to be simply useless later. How many times have you been looking in your wardrobe and didn?t know what to wear, or even worse, you couldn?t find anything appropriate? If among different kinds of clothes, and styles, you still aren't satisfied, then this information should help you.

It's quite difficult to buy exactly what you need when you are a teenager, simply because almost always you don't exactly know what you want. It's so-called casual clothes shopping that automatically brings a great mess in your wardrobes. The usual situation - a party is coming and you don't know what to wear. The key is to systematize your teen clothes. The systematization can be done on colors, fabrics, or season - it depends primarily on you. Today let's talk about how to make your casual clothes shopping not too casual. Some things to avoid about casual clothes that will just make your life awful are right here for you - just try to remember them the next time you shop.

Too many colors.
Too many colors draw attention. Limit each of your garments to just three colors or shades to keep things as simple as possible. When combining your outfits, stick to complementary (i.e. purple and yellow, orange and blue) and analogous (i.e. orange, yellow-orange and yellow) colors. You can also avoid a lot of mistakes simply by matching pale clothes with pale shoes, and dark clothes with dark shoes.

Too many patterns.
Wear no more than three patterns, or match just one or two patterns with one or two solid colous. Of course, the easiest thing you can do is find one pattern you look good in (like chalk stripes or herringbone) and stick to it.

Too many fabrics.
Winter fabrics is heavier, denser and rougher, while summer fabrics tend to be made of natural fibers, single-layered and airy. Keep them away from each other and you should be fine.

Pants that are too long or too short.
Always try on pants before buying them. Remember the following rules:
Khaki and dress pants should end at the top of your shoe's heel. Jeans can be worn to the bottom of the heel. Anything longer - for all types of pants - is too long. Pants should not reveal any sock when you walk. When you sit, they should not expose more than a couple inches of sock.

Pants that sit too high.
If you're short-wasted (i.e. long legs and short torso), wear low-rise jeans or khakis/corduroy pants with front pockets. Another trick is to buy pants with a slightly bigger waist size and a slightly smaller inseam than you normally wear. This will let the pants hang low without clinging to your feet.

T-shirts that are too long or too short. T-shirts should end about midway down your fly.

"Busy" T-shirts.
Stick to T-shirts in solid colors or two colors, and avoid shirts with gaudy designs, logos or vulgar language. Simple colors will actually give you more mix-and-matching effect with regard to jackets, button-downs and sweaters.

Ties that hang awkwardly.
Ties should reach the top of your belt buckle and have a dimple in the centre of their knot.

Socks with sandals.
For starters, get rid of the socks.

And one more thing, to be out of the mess with your teen casual clothes - try to buy quality and take good care them. Be stylish, but not a trend-worshiper. Find out what's in style. Buy the classics: jeans, khaki pants, T-shirts, sweatshirts, sweaters, skirts, etc. and update your wardrobe with accessories - it's easier than to constantly buy a new wardrobe.
