Bobbejaanland in Belgium creates fun for the whole family

Bobbejaan Schoepen was a popular entertainer, who had a passion for country and western music. In 1959, he became tired of traveling and settled in Lichtaart, he began to build a venue for his own performances, which unexpectedly turned into the Bobbejaanland Park or the Merriest Land as it is often called. Bobbejaan Schoepen, his wife and their five children wanted the park to be a family park, and today's Bobbejaanland fully corresponds to their ideals, catering for everyone from a baby to a grandma.

Bobbejaanland is an amusement park in Lichtaart, Belgium, founded by Bobbejaan Schoepen in 1961. It is located in a green region with prolific moors and rich woods. Bobbejaan Schoepen and his family dedicated their lives to turn Bobbejaanland in Belgium into a family park, catering for people of all ages. The result is that adrenaline seekers come here to experience the most fantastic roller coasters, grandparents to have a picnic and enjoy scenic views, young parents with small babies to walk along the pavement in the shadow of bright green trees.

Bobbejaanland in Belgium contains a number of amazing attractions, such as the Indiana River Indoor Waterslide, the Revolution Dark Rollercoaster, the Speedy Bob Roller Coaster, the AirRace Suspended Roller Coaster, the longest junior roller coaster in the world, Okidoki (which means "that's all right") and the world's first Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter roller coaster, "Typhoon", with a drop angle of over 97°.

The Typhoon is the most breathtaking ride in Bobbejaanland in Belgium. You suddenly drop facedown towards the ground from twenty five meters high and then immediately dive through a crazy looping, which is another twenty meters long. After a short break, you shoot through a double loop and the ride ends with two abrupt turns.

Several attractions in Bobbejaanland in Belgium are carefully created specially for the youngest kids. They can ride on the back of a whale or take a ride on one of twenty variations of a merry-go-round. Kinderland is a fabulous indoor park for young children. With its seven hundred square meters and three floors, this indoor play jungle has everything to satisfy the curiosity of the youngest.

The water attractions are excellent, to say the least. There is a large indoor water ride. From a hollow tree trunk you start your adventurous journey through several foaming rapids and observe the mysterious jungle of the Aztecs from the wild river. There are also boat rides, when four in a boat rush through the water and under waterfalls, travel along a foaming canal of four hundred meters long and enter a dark tunnel. In addition to all water rides, a surprise shower should always be expected.

In 2006, Bobbejaanland in Belgium opens two new attractions: the Dream Catcher and Desperado City. The Dream Catcher will take you on a mysterious journey through the dream world of the Indians, going through the worst storm ever and over churning water. The Desperado City will be an interactive adventure of sheriffs on their horses, shooting fearful foes from their revolvers.

There are several restaurants, where visitors can take a relaxing break. The snack bars are nestled throughout the park. They sell delicious ice cream, snacks, waffles, pancakes, etc. You can also buy cool drinks and refreshments. You can bring your own lunch to have a picnic at one of several picnic locations in the park.

The towns of Lichtaart and Kasterlee are located near Bobbejaanland in Belgium, providing accommodations for any budget. There are also natural parks of Snepkesvijver, Hoge Mouw and Kabouterkensberg, which are all havens of tranquility and unspoiled nature.
