People are strange creatures. They are not satisfied only with eating perfectly (or not very) cooked food in restaurants. It is necessary for them to rate all the restaurants and to find the best one. This year the "Best rated restaurants Ceremony" took place in London and, as usual, was organized by "The Restaurant Magazine". But before the announcement of the leaders, there was a hard work of more than 600 chief-cooks, tasters, restaurant -holders and just good-food judges. These people faced really a difficult task, not only because all the participants were of the highest level, but because tastes differ. But they coped with the problem and "The Fat Duck", Berkshire was announced the best restaurant 2005.
The fact that the leadership among the best rated restaurants passed to the English cuisine was a surprise, 'cause last year "The Fat Duck" was the second in the list of the best rated restaurants. It was "The French Laundry", which occupied the top position two years before. This time it is only the third, yielding to "El Bulli" from Spain. 'The French Laundry" is followed by "Tetsuya's" from Sidney and Gordon Ramsay`s restaurant of the same name from London. The Parisian Pierre Gagnaire`s restaurant which was among the leaders in the list of the best rated restaurants last year, now occupies only the sixth line.
As for the winner itself , "The Fat Duck" is rich in different kinds of extraordinary meals, such as oysters under a horse-radish, fried sardines with ice-cream and mustard, salad of snails and many others. The chief -cook of the best rated restaurant - Heston Bluememtale invents meals since 1995, when he decided to work by himself. He managed not only to set up a good business, but to receive approval for it: he won The Good Food Guide Award in 2001, as well as many others. The master claims, that the thing is that he is not only a chief-cook, but a psychologist and a scientist as well. His idea of food is that the fusion of products make our mind even feel the taste which we expect - really a fresh an extraordinary trend in cookery. But nevertheless, Bluementale`s meals are a draw for the British aristocracy, whose estates are located in Berkshire and its suburbs.
So if you are seeking for something new, 'cause your palate got tired of traditional meat and salads, you can use a lot of opportunities to diversify the ration, and the chief cooks of the best rated restaurants will be glad to help you. But before choosing any, look through the list of the best restaurants 2005. And, bon appetite!
