But how many times our harmless wish to become more attractive spoiled holidays because of a terrible itch and sunburns? Unfortunately, very frequent. Well to get a good the desirable tone - though seems very easy - is rather a complicated thing, concealing in itself serious dangers of tanning.
Ultraviolet rays, which take over 12 per cent of solar radiance are divided into UVA, UNB and UVC rays. Beta- rays influence our skin, causing its pigmentation and frequently lead painful burns. Alpha- rays penetrate into deeper layers of the skin and diminish water` s level there, invoking allergy. UVB and UVA combination is the biggest danger of tanning -strengthens the burns and even leads to dermal cancer and melanoma. A sunburn does not fade into a tan. A sunburn indicates over exposure to UV-light and actually damages the skin, leaving it inflamed -as indicated by the skin's red coloring and sensitivity for those with fair skin; and dry, chapped and visibly unappealing for those who have darker complexion. Recent studies suggest that UV-A rays cause even more sun damage because they penetrate deeper into the dermis. Doctors now believe that it is the shorter UV-A that is largely responsible for damaging the collagen and elastin fibres. This reduces the elasticity and the firmness of the skin. Unlike UV-B, UV-A does not immediately burn the skin.
But the dangers of tanning are not only premature aging and fading of your skin, eyes are damaged, too. UVC rays, which are mostly used in tanning salons promote blindness and other ophthalmic diseases, not counting accompanying ones- so dangers of tanning salons are very serious, you see. Remember: indoor tanning never guarantees sunburns` absence and will not secure you from the harmful affect on your skin as well. Remember the best way to safeguard yourself from damages of tanning is to wear appropriate levels of SPF sunscreens outdoors - even if you already have a tan. You should also know that, even with sunscreen protection, UV exposure can still lead to skin cancer and premature aging, even if you don't burn.
So but how to prevent the following dangers of tanning even if you have already burnt? Don`t be in despair - here are some tips how to act. If you still got burnt, wrapping of the damaged part into a wet cool cloth is the first thing must be done. It will be useful to grease the burn with hidrocortizonum or other post- tanning lotion (alcohol-free, of course). And never try grease it with any kind of oil as well as taking cold long baths - it will do you much more harm.
All these dangers of tanning don`t mean avoiding sunbathing at all. Our skin still needs some amount of sunlight for normal work. Sun rays stimulating D-vitamin forming, which ensures bone-strength, benefit the organism. So it`s not very reasonable to avoid sunlight --be it a tanning salon or a beach- just have the simplest sun-protecting lotions and creams. never forget to practice moderation when tanning and use the proper sunscreen protection when tanning outdoors and the proper exposure time that is recommended for your personal skin type when tanning indoors. And your soft healthy tone will be envied by man and women both!
