A sports and social club to meet and play

Added: 01/13/2006

Sport and social clubs are truly the best place to meet and compete. It is a place where amateurs and professionals come for co-ed sports leagues, adventure trips, social events, theme parties, extreme sports and weekend getaways. Whether you are a weekend warrior or play to win, there is a game for you in a sports and social club.

A sports and social club is a place that organizes recreational sports activities and really fun social events. If you want to bump, swing, shoot, kick or pass - a sports and social club is the place to do it.  Run by professionals and for professionals, these clubs are a good source for meeting and competing with other people like yourself-married and single. All of the clubs' social events, adventure trips and travel are usually open to members and non-members. The sports leagues, which are all co-ed and self-officiated and can be followed by post-game food and drink specials, are meant to be fun and social. Any sports and social club exits to bring together young sports enthusiasts through sports leagues, social events, trips and volunteer opportunities. You get the chance to play the team sports you love; meet people who share similar interests and help build social and professional relationships within your area.
Like in any other arenas there are big names among sport and social clubs. Baltimore Sports and Social Club, Inc. began in fall 1998 and is owned and operated by Mike Cray, a former construction contractor. His goal is to ensure that participants get the most out of the best sports and social league in town. BSSC's motto is: "for people who enjoy sports, but love to socialize." The BSSC creates year-round opportunities for individuals to play a variety of team sports in a social atmosphere that continues into happy hours and lasts long after the games are over. It's the perfect marriage of sports and a social scene that draws nearly 7,000 participants from all over the city and the surrounding counties each year. The BSSC social calendar is filled every season with kickoff happy hours for each sport, Orioles games at Camden Yards, Preakness Infield parties and more. Mike and the BSSC also believe in giving back to the community. The BSSC not only makes use of various parks and recreation centers for games, but also donates much-needed equipment to Baltimore City's Department of Recreation and Parks. Baltimore Sports and Social Club prides itself in being the only sports club in the Baltimore/Metropolitan area to offer an opportunity to meet 2,500 new people in one afternoon. Your main goal in joining the BSSC should be to meet new friends, and have fun-it's that simple.  After more than 20 years of coaching and playing in many different sports, Mike Cray knows firsthand the value of friendships made through sports-friendships that have lasted longer than any memory of games won or lost. BSSC members are encouraged not to take winning or losing too seriously; they know that the social aspects of the league are more important than a win or a loss. The league hosts several fundraisers and sports tournaments; past recipients are included in the "our partners" link on our Web site.
If you a real sports fan that likes to socialize, it's up to you to search for more info and find the sports and social club that fits you. So, grab some friends, sign up as a group, a team or an individual, and get social!
