Wedding cars

The wedding ceremony is over and you are now officially a Mr. and Mrs. What should your first car ride be like? Should it be a white stretch limousine, a horse drawn carriage, a winter wonderland sleigh or an antique roadster? The options are endless and which would complete your wedding day is for you to choose. Whatever you decide, you and your wedding party will need transportation to the wedding and reception site.

You will need to decide which attendants, guests and parents will need transportation. Traditionally, the bride rides to the church with her father and the rest of the guests follow. However, most ceremony sites have dressing rooms and the wedding party utilizes these rooms; eliminating the need for a ride to the church.

If you decide to only have yourselves (the bridal couple) ride in a special wedding car, the attendants may follow in groups in their personal cars. This will form a bridal caravan and all the wedding cars are usually decorated.

It is important for the Best Man to arrange for the newlyweds to have transportation from the wedding reception to your honeymoon night destination. This vehicle should be filled with overnight bags or honeymoon bags if you are leaving immediately after for your honeymoon. It may also be filled with additional gifts from your wedding party.

Although wedding cars are associated with limousines, not all couples choose to rent limousines for their wedding transportation, and the following are creative alternatives to the standard.
Hot Air Balloon - Up and Away the guests may blow bubbles as the couple depart.
Horse and Sleigh - the bride may consider wearing a cape for this romantic departure.
Horseback is for horse lovers. You can involve you favorite animal in your special day.
Canoe - the waters should be smooth and you may relax on your way to the reception.
Motorboat - let your veil sway in the wind as you gaze at the moon.
Fire Truck - this red alarm wedding trip will get you to the party fast.
Trolley - take a tour around the city with the whole wedding party.
Antique Car - reenact your grandparents wedding caravan.

If you have nevertheless chosen the limousine, you will need to know exactly for how many people you will need transportation. You may also want to keep in mind what color limousine you will want - the most common colors are white, black and silver.

You should book your wedding cars in advance, if you do not want your friends and family to be jolted to the wedding reception in public transport. You should ask friends, recently married couples and other wedding professionals for recommendations for wedding transportation companies to contact. One of the first things to find out from the company is whether they are insured to transport passengers. Here are some other questions to ask:
? Do they have special wedding packages?
? What is the minimum rental time?
? If you order more than one limousine, do they offer a discount?
? Do they charge for mileage, when they are driving with no passengers?
? Are their cars owned or rented?
? What is the driver's attire?
? How many weddings do they handle during a weekend?
? Is there a backup car readily available?
? What is included in the price? Are there any extra costs? Is there a fee for cleaning or decorating?
? What are their refund and cancellation policies?

Make sure to get references and check out the cars you will be renting before signing any contracts. The contract should have all information in writing including cost, the exact cars you will be renting, and the driver's duties.

For as long as there have been weddings, there has been wedding cars. Couples are always seeking that perfect means exiting their wedding ceremony and transporting themselves to the reception.

But, how do you do this when you are on a budget?
As usual, the answer is creativity, you should be able to come up with something on your own that is affordable and fun.

First, what are your interests? Are you and your fiancé passionate about bicycling, motorcycling, cars, boats? Are you having a theme to your wedding that you want to stick to?

Second, think about the people that you know. Do you know someone who collects cars? Do you know someone who owns a riding stable? What about a bicycle shop? Think about your parent's close friends as well.

Third, where is your ceremony and reception located? Your wedding transportation has to be viable - you cannot take a boat to your reception, if it is not on a body of water. You cannot bicycle there in a wedding dress, if it is an hour away.

Depending on your interests, and on your wedding location, you can come up with a creative idea of how to get from your ceremony to your reception.

Like bicycling? Rent a tandem bike and pedal your way there (depending on how far it is!). Is your reception on a lake, and you have a friend who owns a boat? Ask him if he would drive you up to the reception location.

Of course, many of these ideas are extremely "out there", and if you don't know someone to help you out, they can be incredibly expensive. So, don't go overboard in your thinking. Piling your wedding party into the family van decorated in tulle and bells can be just as fun as getting a limo and a lot less expensive.
Whatever you decide to do, it will be perfect for you and your wedding. Have fun, and be creative.
