What do we talk about with people we have no common topics with when it is a little bit impolite to stay silent? We talk about the weather. 'What a lovely day, isn't' or 'this rain is awful' ' the phrases of that kind are something very like 'how do you do' or 'thank you'.

Do you know radio program is common for most of radio stations and is one of most popular? They say it's the weather forecast.
On some radio stations they tell you how the weather is every quarter of an hour or even more often. On the most of others they speak about the weather every half an hour. And this information is really necessary. You probably won't bother much if you miss by an accident the news-block on the radio. About all the news we can fully learn in the evening TV issues,  but weather report are different case. It helps to decide what to wear, weather to take or not an umbrella and should or shouldn't you plan a picnic for the weekend.

But sometimes this morning radio casts aren't quite enough. Most of us don't have to deal with tsunamis, tornadoes, storms and etc too often. But some people inhabit in the danger areas where all this natural cataclysms are a common thing. Yet humanity hasn't developed a method to make a long term and precise forecast of these phenomena and sometimes we learn about what's going to happen only when it starts happening. This is when weather radios are very useful. They broadcast the weather 24 hours. The weather services (in the countries where such services do exist) have their transmitters all over the country in all it's areas so they share the most current information about the weather. You only have to purchase a weather radio receiver which are (as all modern devices) various in shapes, sizes and the seta of function. When you already have one ' only tune in and you get all the latest information about the weather in your area. Some of those receivers even have an alert function: they automatically turn on or beep or give any other signal when the weather service sends a warning about any severe weather approaching to the place of your location.

Who needs the weather radio? Of course if you are a happy inhabitant of an area where sun shines 365 days a year ' you definitely won't need it. Even if in your city it only rains a few times in the autumn and snows a little in the winter ' probably you won't need it much too.

If you are a mariner whether a professional or just a fan owning a boat or a yacht... well then you probably are already very well acquainted with the weather service and the weather radio.
If you are a traveler or just used to drive across the country very often then a weather radio receiver could be very useful to warn about all the weather hazards that might face you on you way. You probably know what it's like when stormy weather overtakes in the way. So it's better to know beforehand and to get prepared or seek for a shelter. The same thing refers to all the campers. The weather radio is available on the highways, coastal, wilderness areas, national parks and camping zones.

Either the weather radio broadcasts information not only about weather and natural cataclysms, like tornadoes, floods, earthquakes, volcanic activities, forest fires. It also provides the information about all the technological hazards ' accident chemical releases, explosions on the factories and etc. And what's unfortunately has become very important nowadays the weather radios alerts about possible threats of terrorist attacks.

So in fact the weather radio is a kind of emergency information providing service destined to guard your safety although you still might use it to learn for sure whether to take or not to take an umbrella with you.
