Hen partyWhen a few girls get together there happens a hen party.
Traditionally it's a party held by a bride a few days before her marriage when she's saying goodbye to he her free independent life. But in fact a hen party is any party with no men participating.
At least no men that women are already aquatinted with. Married women who had been friends for the long time, before marriage and family life sometimes have a very nice tradition of organizing a hen party once or a few times a year. They leave their husbands at home, tell them that they are going to come back late and go to have fun and mostly exchange news and rumors with their women-friends.
Girls who aren't married are having those hen parties even more often.
A hen party can be arranged at any place as any other party. More often it's an apartment where's so easy to relax and have a good talk. Women may choose as a place for a hen party any small cozy cafe with not too much visitors and not noisy. It's better not to search for the new places but to choose something known and loved for the hen party case. It can either be a tradition to meet together for an evening in a week/month/year at such a cozy place.
If the weather is fine one may do outside and organize a country hen party. It gives more opportunities for some out door physical activities and for cooking some stuff on the open fire.
Women hit together some night club but it could only be called a hen party if it's a men strip club.
A party at one's place is preceded by visiting a supermarket where girls buy everything their soul longs. Usually it's wines, champagne, chocolate, all types of cakes and sweets, some salads, cheeses and etc that satisfy women's gastronomic tastes.
If one of a friends is on a diet usually all others persuade her to taste 'that delicious piece of something'. And she usually agrees saying to herself that it's not so often she sees her friend. Of course one can arrange a healthy food hen party. At it doesn't mean that the party will be awful. Modern supermarkets and specialized shops offer a wide range of healthy food which is either tasty. But most of a women would prefer a glass of wine and some chocolate. It's better not to cook on a hen party because it's the evening when a woman should get rid of any of her household duties.
What do women do when they finally get together? Oh yes, they chatter and they do it as they've stood silent for years before that evening. And what do women talk about when there's no men around. Yes, they talk about men. Their husbands, boyfriends, lovers, chefs, men-friends and etc. They don't always talk about how awful and misunderstanding the men are but sometime of course conversation turns this way. The main question women try to solve on those hen parties: is it better with or without men.
Of course women discuss some other matter too like kids, jobs, studies, cosmetics, health and etc. Sometimes even politics, economy, philosophy, cars and football. One more thing women love to share information about are other women.
Chattering is favorite but not the only activity of women on a hen party. They can watch a top blockbuster or a romantic comedy. If they haven't seen each other for a while they usually bring photo-albums or disks with photographs to look them through together. Also women love to show their recent buys whatever they be but especially cloths and accessories.
Whatever they do the talk never stops and the never get bored although sometimes to the end of such hen parties one can hear some humble expressed in a low voice opinions that it would be nice to get a couple of men to the place, or women grab their cell-phones suddenly remembering that their men are waiting for the call.
