We all remember the proverb: a friend in need is a friend indeed. Should one of our special friends falls ill, we would do our best to improve the situation. We would make ceaseless telephone calls, send our best regards and wishes of the speediest recovery, and sometimes come to see her or her. Of course seeing a friend is already a great pleasure to the sick one, and it already proves our love and care. You can lay waste the neighbor drugstore, having bought their monthly store of aspirin and paper handkerchiefs before you visit. These so called gifts can be very helpful, nevertheless some other get well gifts will cheer up an ill friend even more.
Those get well gifts are extremely important when you visit a friend in the hospital, because staying there is particularly unpleasant. Colorful and nicely smelling flowers will bring a lot of life and warm into a ward. You may send them with a postcard in case you can't hand them in by yourself at the moment. The other important thing is food, as hospital canteen is never a restaurant. But before bringing in the baskets of chocolate, cookies and fruits, consult your friend's doctor whether it would do any harm, and better ask for a list of products permitted.
Remember that an ill person is feeling not only sick, but also lonely and bored. So all those teddy bears and bunnies will seem very sweet and touchy, but of course, mostly to women and kids. Easy-reading books, different magazines, puzzles, crosswords, computer or play station games and etc. will help to get rid of boredom both to men and women. To fight the feeling of being deserted, you may present 'alive' get well gift: a kitten or a puppy. You should be sure that such a get well gift will be accepted mercifully and won't cause the ill one extra-trouble. The softer variant of this 'alive' gift will be a plant in a pot or a golden fish in aquarium.
One more type of get well gifts is the gift providing comfort, like slippers, a dressing-gown, aromatic candles, a rug, or something of that kind. Although people being sick are often very capricious, such gifts will please the most fastidious friend.
