Easter gift ideas can be found in the area of mostly intimate relationships. It is hardly possible to make an Easter gift formal, so this is the best time to get more personal.

Time of Easter celebration is close to the ancient tradition to celebrate the Festival of Spring in March or vernal equinox, symbolizing the nature reawakening after cold winter.

Easter is also connected to the Hebrew "pesach" (Passover) festival,  that is an important date in the Jewish calendar, commemorating the Israelites' fight for freedom against Egypt.

According to Christian tradition, Easter is a major celebration marking the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He was crucified on what is known to Christians as Good Friday, and was resurrected three days later on Easter Sunday.

Easter marks the end of the period of Lent that begins on Ash Wednesday, and is a time of penitence in preparation for the highest festival of the church.

Eggs have been the Easter gifts for many centuries and are the most identifiable symbol of Easter, symbolizing birth to new life. Since the very early days eggs were decorated with bright colours and used in egg rolling games, or given away as Easter gifts, sometimes between lovers and romantic admirers, much in the same way as Valentine gifts (thus strengthening the personal relationships).

Different countries have different traditions for their egg decoration - with gold and silver favoured by Slavic people, crimson red to represent the blood of Christ in Greece, green eggs for Holy Thursday in parts of Germany and Austria. In Austria plants are sometimes wrapped around eggs before they are boiled.

In some countries it is also quite common for eggs to have their insides blown, leaving empty shells, which are then decorated and hung onto shrubs and trees for the Easter week period.

Traditional Easter gifts are Easter baskets filled with fine sweets, chocolates, mints and cookies decorated according to the occasion. Also, almost every other gift in the gift shop will do complemented with a proper wrapping and/or decoration. An egg, painted or decorated by yourself, might be another precious Easter gift.
