Christmas is a family holiday, we all know it. Parents, children, grandchildren, uncles, aunts and nephews get together, sit around the holiday table, eat turkey, sing carols and anticipate to unpack gifts in the morning. That's all so nice, charming, cozy and traditional. But Christmas isn't a holiday of one evening. Or why would all the people be going so crazy during a whole month of December? There are always friends Christmas parties, corporate Christmas parties, children's Christmas parties an so on. So why don't not to host a party at your place if everything is so obliging to do it!

First of all make your decision to host a party early in December and start planning everything then. Why so early? Because a week or two later it will be already to late.

Start planning the party with making a list if guests. Don't try to invite everyone all at once, remember that both your house and your purse have their limits. You may of course land chairs and tables at your neighbor for all your 50 guests nut maybe you'd better make them 10 or 25 at least. Remember that invited guests do love to bring their dates, children, friends and relatives with them, get ready for all those extra-guests.

After you've finally decided whom you want to see at your party ' go on and start inviting  them. Once more ' the earlier in December you the better. All the people you invite will be busy shopping, making plans, preparing for Christmas by the and of the month. So they'd better sign in you and your party in their sidle in the beginning of the month, by it's end they may already have no opportunity to accept the invitation. by the way choose for the party some evening on the eve of Christmas, because Christmas night people spend with families and after the December 25 they start getting ready for The New Year.

Sending invitations by post... Well if your want to arrange some kind of a retro party probably that'll do but don't be surprised if a half of your guests won't come ' probably the letter got lost or they simply didn't check up their paper mail. The most testified way of inviting anyone for a party still stays the phone. Don't try to do it all by the way. Choose a spare hour, take a phone book and call everyone at once. At once because otherwise those who will the invitation later than other may look at it as on some kind of a negligence.

If some of your friends are advanced I-net users or you're just sure that they check up their e-mail from time to time ' send them an electronic invitations. I-net offers a great choice of Christmas post-cards with animations and music.

Tell all your guests that they can bring one or two persons with them, but ask them to let you know about it beforehand. Also explain them what kind of a Christmas party it'll be ' a cocktail party when everyone is supposed to wear cocktail dresses, a kind of casual party very informal and a little bit unpredictable, a sit at table party. You may either arrange a masquerade or some theme party or tell you guests to bring gift for a gift-exchange party. For some parties hosts ask their guest to bring their best home-cooked dish with them and hosts themselves only provide party with drinks and hors-d'oeuvres. Home-cooked dishes will create at a Christmas party some cosy family atmosphere.

Find out how much money you can spend on a party. Proceed all your calculations from that sum and try not to overdraw it too much. Mind that when the holidays are over ' life isn't and you'll have to survive somehow till the next payment. When you go to the supermarket with a list of thing you need to buy try not to look around too much. At Christmas shops do offer lots of bright, shining and colourful stuff which cactus the eye is completely useless. So after you've bought all you need just leave.

You make ask your guests to bring some things necessary for the party with them. By the way you can hint them what kind of the Christmas gifts are missing at the party and would perfectly supply it. This can be either kitchen towels, some room decoration stuff of coffee cups.

And of course Christmas is Christmas so you'll have to decorate your place for a Christmas. A Christmas tree, candles, lights, Santa figures, garlands ' a little bit of traditions a little bit of fantasy. Look at this process as an artist, a creator. Make your house shine and attract with it cosy look all those Christmas strangers in the night telling them that this is exactly where the greatest Christmas party of a year is hosted. Who knows maybe even the Three Wise Men could drop in by the way.
