A local charity organization decided to tackle the issue of transportation for a women's shelter they frequently collaborated with to provide assistance to women who were living in abusive homes. The women's shelter offered a safe place to live for the woman and her children if she had any, on a temporary basis until other arrangements could be made. While the women spend time in the shelter they are provided with counseling, legal assistance, medical care if needed, and a social worker to help them find a job, new place to live and establish a safe network away from the abuser.
