Two-Door Sport, More Fun Or More Hassle?

As a couple it would be fun to explore a two-door sport car. The contribution of each member in the relationship will ensure that the buy is satisfactory to both partners. Sometimes women want to take the backseat when it comes to buying a car. This is still the stereotype that prevails. However a woman has as much power as when it comes to being an active buyer of the car. All it takes is a lot of research.

My husband and I were in the market for a new car. We had been debating for several months about what type of vehicle we wanted to purchase. There were obvious pros and cons to everything and the decision was becoming quite challenging to make. We first tried narrowing it down to a truck or SUV versus a car. That part of the decision was not too difficult as we already owned an SUV and clearly wanted an another vehicle that would be good on gas mileage. Our teenage son was nearly graduated from high school and rarely went anywhere with us anymore anyway, so size was not much of a factor. My husband drives all over the state on a daily basis and that was our single biggest consideration for wanting a car versus another SUV or truck.

Now that we had determined a car was our choice, the decision needed to be made between a sedan of some sort or a sports coupe. This presented more of a challenge as we had very different ideas about what "made sense" or even about what we each liked. My husband was leaning more towards a sedan, as he believed the car should be comfortable and nice to drive. I realized that he would be spending an enormous amount of time in the car, especially compared to me, but I thought that we might be able to find a sportier car that offered comfort as well. He wanted clarification from me about what kind of sport car I was interested in and I explained I wanted a two-door sport. He contemplated my opinion and wondered if I was talking about a convertible or not. I again explained that a two-door sport hardtop would be ideal because I realized a soft-top convertible was not very practical for where we lived and I knew that he would argue that point.

Once he considered our conversation about a two-door sport versus a sedan, he asked what I specifically had in mind as far as a brand of car. I said I especially liked Infiniti's new G35 Sport Coupe that is coming out because I realize we probably cannot afford the Volvo C70 Coupe or the BMW 6 Series, but I did really like them as well. We continued to debate the pros and cons such as fun to drive compared to a roomy interior. Before long he began to come around and see that buying a sport two-door hardtop would be a lot of fun and something that would be awesome to drive. He was not convinced about the Infiniti but agreed to take a look at them and test drive one to get a better idea of the sport two-door car. We decided that the following weekend we would investigate several different cars that were two-door sport so that we could make an informed and educated decision about which one would be perfect for us. Our financial situation is not so dire at the moment but we do want to be prepared. It is a huge investment that we wish to make but it will all be worth it in the end. That is the joys of knowing before hand. It this preparation phase that is more crucial and the success of our endeavors depend on it. Now I just hope that I will get the chance to drive it sometimes. This would mean that my part of the contribution is well received. The only problem is, that it is hard to part boys from their precious toys.
