The Nissan Titan is one of the truly outstanding pickups created in the early 21st century. Originally introduced in 2003 and made available in the United States in 2004, the Titan remains as near to its original design as any seriously good creation can be. You only have to compare what has proved popular in the motoring world to recognise the brilliance of the Titan. Design longevity is a real clue about how successful a vehicle actually is. People initially buy because they like what they see, but when they return for more of the same a few years down the line it can only mean that a manufacturer has indeed found the right formula. In this instance that manufacturer is Nissan.
How many of us need to take rubbish to the tip? How many of us sometimes need a vehicle able to carry awkward loads? How many times have you wished you had a trailer? Maybe motor manufacturers should begin to think about the pickup in a different way, or maybe one manufacturer already has. Nissan has always been an imaginative motor manufacturer no matter the motoring arena. The Titan was primarily designed to provide either rear wheel or 4x4 transportation with the ability to handle in excess of an 1,100 payload and tow up to 9,500 pounds. However, when Nissan also created a cabin comparable to a luxury saloon, people looking for practicality from their vehicle began to ask themselves if a pickup was a better idea than a standard SUV. The world of transport is constantly changing as new demands arise and, because our environment is continually developing, placing fresh demands on all of us. Our changing environment impacts on us most in what we now expect our personal vehicles to provide. The majority of us require practicality from our vehicles and, when you study the practicality provided by a pickup, you really need to ask yourself whether pickups should begin to feature on your list of must haves.
The Titan makes a good argument for more people to consider turning away from orthodox modes of transport such as a saloon or standard SUV. Today Nissan Titan accessories include ways that keep the rear end covered when not required in the way it was primarily designed.
That the Titan design was a good one from the outset is obvious from the very few changes that Nissan has needed to include over the past three years, and that also refers its engine. The modern 5.6 litre V-8 comes with DOHC and 32 valves is a powerhouse that boasts 305 hp and 379 lb ft of torque. Coupled to a five speed automatic transmission with a Tow/Haul mode makes the Titan ideal as a utility workhorse. Except that Nissan also created a cabin comparable to a luxury saloon and thereby offered potential and non-potential buyers a peek at the possibilities in which pickups may be evolving. Although it might not yet quite seem reasonable to pull up outside a swanky restaurant in a pickup, that's only because not until now has one been available that could look right in the role. The Titan may well prove to be one of the first steps in changing our perception of what looks right in 21st century transportation, especially as Nissan Titan accessories such as the Nissan DVD Mobile Theatre become features that the majority of us would like to share.
