I called my mother as soon as I hung up the phone with my grandmother and explained to her the conversation I just had. My mother told me that grandma had called her too and asked her to go shopping for a new car. I asked my mom what the deal was with grandma wanting a new car when she just bought a 2005 ford crown victoria last year. My mother told me that she was not sure what was going on but she would try to get to the bottom of it. She said I should just take grandma shopping on Saturday as I told her I would and we will try to find out what is going on. I agreed that I would take grandma shopping.
Saturday morning I went over to my grandmother’s house and picked her up. Her 2005 ford crown victoria was in the garage and I still had no idea what her intentions or reasons were for wanting a new car when there was practically a brand new one sitting in the garage, it was even green, her favorite color. As we set out on our shopping trip, I asked where she wanted to go and what kind of car she was interested in. She promptly replied that she wanted to go straight to the Ford Dealer and look at a 2006 ford crown victoria. Now I was even more confused because why in the world would she want the exact same car she already has? A 2006 ford crown victoria when you have a 2005 ford crown victoria in your garage? My grandmother became a little feisty and told me it was none of my business why she wanted a new car, if she wanted a 2006 ford crown victoria she could buy one and that was that.
When we walked into the ford dealership, my grandmother went straight to the 2006 ford crown victoria that was in the middle of the showroom. She pointed at the car and told the salesman that she wanted a green one just like that one. I started to panic a little because my mother would kill me if I did not stop my grandmother from buying this car. I used my cell phone to call my mom quickly and get her down to the dealership so she could deal with my grandmother. She arrived at once and while they had a discussion I checked out the car my grandmother was so fascinated with. I noticed that the 2006 ford crown victoria did have a 4.6-liter V8 engine with a four speed automatic transmission but that is exactly what grandma’s 2005 ford crown victoria had.
My mother came back over to me and rolled her eyes. She walked me over to the 2006 ford crown victoria while grandma went back to my car and got in. My mom showed me the in-glass radio antenna, which was a new feature on the 2006 models. Apparently, one of the ladies at grandma’s church had recently purchased a 2006 ford crown victoria and bragged to my grandma that her car was better than my grandmothers because of this new feature, which upset her so much she wanted to buy a new car. Fortunately, we talked her out of it for now, once we got to the bottom of it.
