When General Motors, a parent company, brought together Japan's Subaru and Sweden's Saab company's good things happened, one of which was the Saab 9-2X. This new versatile vehicle is basically a newly restyled Subaru sport wagon but with alterations to make it appealing to a young, affluent market that Saab would like to obtain. Acura, Volvo, BMW and Mercedes have already partook of the benefits of global partnerships to increase market share in other areas so it is not surprise that others are doing the same.
The Saab 9-2X has not received an award for best sport compact car yet, although it is truly more like a wagon than a sports car with ruggedness to it that the younger buyers want from an automobile. The 9-2x and the WRX from Subaru share several traits, one could even compare them as siblings who share one parent.
They have the same 2-liter, 227-horsepower turbocharged engine, 5-speed manual gearboxes, all-wheel-drive-systems and even the same basic body structure.
