One step that Nissan Cars USA takes is to inform areas in which the use of seatbelts in a particular area is below average and inform the people living in these regions why seatbelt use is so important. Another way they promote child safety is to offer free child safety courses in areas, such as Los Angeles.

In order to be able to offer these free child safety training courses, Nissan Cars USA and other divisions of Nissan North America, Inc. has worked with places such as the Puente Learning Center, YMCA, Crystal Stairs and The Los Angeles County of Education.

Not only do they educate people about seat belt usage, but they also inform people of California’s new child passenger safety law which requires children to be placed in car safety seats or booster seats until they either grow to be 60 pounds or until they are 6 years old.

Another way that Nissan Cars USA participates within the participating of child automobile safety is by administering Child Safety Passenger Cards during the child safety courses. It explains the steps to help a parent or guardian to properly install a car seat, and how to properly place children in the car seat.

Also, before 2002, Nissan North America, Inc., which Nissan Cars USA is a part of, teamed up with the What to Expect Foundation which is a group that distributes various safety materials such as videos, brochures, and posters to medical offices for the purpose of continued promotion of car seat safety. Furthermore, The What to Expect Foundation and the Nissan corporation car safety seat clinics, which took place for the purpose of child safety seat fitting education.
