You can see fashion designers works on different showsOn the modern markets, you can find famous names like Dior, Chanel, and Gucci almost everywhere. There are many fashion giants that offer many kinds of products because they are not just clothes producers anymore. Fashion design houses these days offer a full list of fashionable products; they have clothes, make up, cosmetics, bags, different accessories, and many other products. There are even special boutiques that sell products of particular fashion brands.
But, in the first place these fashion houses are clothing making companies. Their fashion designers work hard to bring you new and wonderful ideas. In fact the entire designer's works can be divided into two big categories that are much different. There are even two different types of fashion designers work, designers and stylists. stylist and designer work is differing.
The first category of the fashion industry is called "haute couture" clothing. The first type of fashion designers work deal with the collections. They create all there designs from scratch and these clothes collections are always custom made. "Haute couture" is a French word meaning high fashion. All of the fashions are made for shows. And, not just any company can be called an haute couture fashion house because there are special rules for that. In order to get that name the company name has to be a member of the syndicated member of haute couture that was founded in 1945. Each member of the syndicated member of haute couture has to present two clothing collections a year. And each collection must contain 35 outfits for daywear and nightwear. Presently, there are 18 members of the syndicated members for haute couture. The members include Jean Paul Gautier, Givency, and Dior is of course on that list. Fashion houses from that union make more than one billion dollars in United States annually.
The clothing from haute collections goes for huge sums of money. The prices for some items can go for over 100 thousands in dollars. But, in fact these clothes are not for the general public because the haute couture market is very small. There are 60,000- 70,000 customers that buy clothes from these collections. And, another category of the fashion industry is the ready to wear clothing and the French word prкt porter is often used here. The second type of fashion designers work with the clothes all the time and they like it. Stylists in most cases work with ready models and designer's collection but it is their work that give fashion houses most of their revenue. Unlike haute couture collections, ready to wear collections are ready made. This clothing is standard sized and mass produced. These collections are being sold in the stores of fashion houses all over the world.
Fashion designers of both types are usually trained as models and pattern makers. But, there is also a division of designer teams at the fashion houses. There are always designers, pattern makers and modeleurs, models and sample makers. Of course, there are many other employees in fashion houses. There are photographers, make up artists, and models and many others that work on presentations and shows and presentations.
