Advanced pain therapy apt intrathecal new method of chronic pain treatment

Added: 10/14/2005

There are many people who suffer from chronic pain. This kind of pain is not caused by any damage or injury. Such pain appears due to the malfunction of the central nervous system. Patients with chronic pain are forced to take different medications, which have side effects, or use potentially dangerous equipment. But there is an alternative for all these methods? The advanced pain therapy apt intrathecal.

There is an enormous number of people today who suffer from different kinds of pain. The pain may come after an accident, if there is a serious injury. But pain can also be there for no obvious reason. Patients with the chronic pain have some nervous system malfunction that causes the pain, even though there is no damage or injury. For these people pain becomes a part of every day life.

But what is the most terrible in many cases of the chronic pain is that the intensity of pain is increasing with time. Patients suffering from the chronic pain have to take a lot of different medications to lower the pain at least a little bit. And as the intensity of pain increases, they have to up the dosage of pain killers they take. But as all other medications, most of the pain killers have side effects. Some of these side effects are insignificant while others can be potentially dangerous. And, of course, with a bigger dosage of pain killer the risk of dangerous side effects is also augmenting.

All that makes people suffering from the chronic pain look for other methods of treating their diseases. One of these alternative methods is the use of nerve stimulators. Pain is transmitted through the nervous system to the brain. Affecting the nerve where pain occurs by electrical current, it is possible to lower the pain. Special devices called nerve stimulators produce different electric pulses. Negatively charged electrons depolarize the area of the nerve and thus do not allow the pain to be transmitted to the brain. Modern nerve stimulators are made compact, so people who use them can lead an active life without terrible pain.

Such a method can be easily applied not only in cases of the chronic pain but for lowering any pain. Sportsmen can use it, for example, when they are injured. In fact, any nerve stimulator does not cure the actual disease, it only lessens the pain. But unlike medications, such a therapy does not have dangerous side effects and the dosage (intensity of electric pulses) can be as high as the patient wishes. But, unfortunately, this method does not work in some cases. But there is another alternative way of the pain therapy? Yes, the advanced pain therapy apt intrathecal. Also, the advanced pain therapy apt intrathecal is a new method of pain treatment when medications are used in small amounts.

But in case of the advanced pain therapy apt intrathecal medications are delivered right to the area around the spinal marrow (this area is called "intrathecal space" which gave the name to the entire method - the advanced pain therapy apt INTRATHECAL). To perform this complicated procedure, a special pump is used. It pumps medication through the catheter in the spinal cord of the patient.

And as long as the medication is injected right into the area around the nervous system, where pain is transmitted, the advanced pain therapy apt intrathecal method becomes very effective. A small dosage of medications does not cause side effects as in a regular way of delivering them, and there is no need for any other dangerous equipment for lowering the pain. And although the technique of the advanced pain therapy apt intrathecal has not been yet fully tested, it has proved to be an effective pain treatment.
