The Beatles is the most famous music band in the world. It is believed to be one of rock`n`roll founders and the most innovative band of all times. The Beatles originates from Liverpool, England. The members were John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. McCartney and Lennon were the songwriters while Harrison made a substantial contribution especially at the end.

In 1963, The Beatles created a sensation in Great Britain after which the British press pinned the label "Beatlemania" on the band. Beatlemania showed in crowds of screaming women in delight chasing the group everywhere and inspiring them in their concerts. In the beginning of 1964 Beatlemania crossed the Atlantic Ocean and came to America thus the popularity of the Beatles spread across the world. This phenomenon was called "British Invasion" in America.

Rock`n`roll could be born nowhere else but in America - a mixture of songs by black musicians performed by white artists such as Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, Buddy Holly and Carl Perkins. Elvis Presley was an idol for the Beatles and John Lennon once said, "There was nothing before Elvis".

So, the guys started to create emulations of musical styles of American artists. After a lapse of time the Beatles started to generate their own musical ideas and bring them to life. During the week of April 1964, The Beatles held the top five places on the Billboard Hot Top 100 - this feat has never been repeated. By rights the Beatles is the most innovative band of all times. They made noticeable progress since their early hits such as "She Loves You" and "I Want to Hold Your Hand" to very artistically impressive songs from "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" and "Abbey Road" albums.

By changing their repertoire and expanding the possibilities of recording studio facilities, by constant improving quality of their recordings the Beatles had the biggest ever influence on the entire popular music. The Beatles broke up in April 1970. Their last album titled "Let it be" was released one month later. It was a twist of fate when so immense a popularity of the Beatles led to grave consequences. On December 8, 1980 John Lennon was murdered by one of his biggest fans, a deranged person Mark David Chapman.

In 1995, a virtual reunion of the Beatles took place with the release of some of original recordings of the Beatles mixed by remaining members into two hit singles: "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love". The entire unreleased material was released on six CDs including documentary miniseries and shootings of the band. The project was called "The Beatles Anthology". In 2005, thirty five years after the breakup, the American entertainment industry magazine "Variety" named The Beatles the most iconic entertainers of the twentieth century.
