Skin cancer symptoms and the disease itself have become widely spread nowadays

Added: 12/02/2005

Skin cancer symptoms may be different, depending on the types of this disease. It's worth admitting there three types of skin cancer: a basal cell carcinoma, a squamous cell carcinoma and malignant melanoma. Each of them has peculiar causes, symptoms, signs and ways for appropriate efficient treatment. For example, the first mentioned two cancer types are quite easy to identify and treat. Unfortunately, this cannot be said about the malignant melanoma.

As it is identified in scientific literature cancer is a separate class of disease characterized by out-of-control cells division and their ability to invade other human's tissues. It's impossible not to mention that 25% of the deaths in the world are annually caused by cancer. It's dangerous! About 0,5% of the planet population are diagnosed with cancer every year. The most widely spread and common kinds of cancer are skin cancer (in epithelial tumors), cervical cancer, laryngeal cancer, esophageal cancer and other ones.

It is very important for any person to know not only the possible causes of skin cancer, but also some common and frequent skin cancer symptoms as well as types of skin cancer. As the scientific researchers indicate the majority of skin cancer signs usually occur on the neck, head, arms, back. It is evident because the mentioned parts of the human body are exposed most to the sunlight.

All the variable skin cancer symptoms include any changes on the skin (sores which don't heal), ulcers in the skin, any changes in existing moles or even discoloring in some skin parts. The majority of them are very dark or even black. The surface of the skin becomes raised and sometimes rough. The melanomas have, as a rule, circular shape or can even be close to a circle. On the early stages they may look like a small mole but with different color shades in it. Be aware that such moles can even bleed or ooze. As they grow they change in color and shape. Any of the mentioned skin cancer symptoms should be reported to your doctor.

It's a common knowledge the least dangerous type of skin cancer is called the basal cell carcinoma. It usually looks like a smooth, pearly, raised bump on the sun-exposed skin. The commonly met skin cancer symptoms of this type the following: the blood vessels may become more visible within the tumor, central depression mainly with bleeding and crusting. The majority of basal cell carcinomas occur of the face skin starting with a small pink, waxy spot usually oval or circular in shape. But later they usually grow, begin bleeding in the center and may develop a crust.

Other skin cancer symptoms may be seen in case of squamous cell carcinoma - a scaling, red, well-defined patch on the sun-exposed part of skin. It may bleed or ulcerate. But being treated incorrectly or not treated at all this disease may develop into a large mass. The squamous cell carcinoma is usually common on the neck, head or limbs.

The easy-to-remember guideline of the third and most harmful skin cancer symptoms (malignant melanoma) is the following:
-body irregularity (irregular or notched margins),
-asymmetry (different sides of the lesion),
-color (often a mixture of dark brown, black, red, white or blue colors),
-diameter (often larger than 6 mm across, but any change in size may occur and be really significant).

Thus, skin cancer has become a real world problem. More and more people care about their health and are interested in the factors, causing skin cancer, the disease's signs and, of course, skin cancer symptoms. Take care of yourself! Remember, the more you know - the quicker you will be able to identify any disease and have an appropriate treatment.
