Tennis open slam world tournaments

Added: 12/01/2005

Two of three open tournaments are the parts of the premiere tennis Grand Slam events forming, along with French Open, tennis open slam. They all were completely formed in the twentieth century and are open for all the players and spectators. These tournaments are well known and widely visited by spectators at the same level as all world famous sport events.

US open and Australian open are two out of three open tournaments that are the parts of tennis open slam and contain the half of Grand Slam tournaments.

Australian open takes place in the first part of January and is the first open tournament out of four Grand Slam ones. It is also the first among tennis open slams.

Australian open was initially held one hundred years ago and called by amateur tennis players as Australian championships. It was originally carried out on grass fields, the fastest fields of all available, but later moved to Melbourne Park.

Like in all tennis open slam tournaments (together with Grand Slam events), the Australian open has the men?s and women?s singles, doubles and mixed as well as the junior and senior tournaments.

It is very much like all other events in tennis open slam, as the rules are regulated accordingly, but the champions are different. A lot of them are from Australia like Adrian Quits and Roy Emerson, who had been men?s best players for several years. However, women?s list of tennis best players is not very long. All of the tennis players exchanges only one ?Margaret Smith Court, had been the best for three times and only once she left Thelma Long from Australia.

In United States, the history showed itself more multifarious. Hence, there are many interesting things in the history of US open. For example, first the tournaments for men and women were held separately. Also the US Open primarily was called the U.S. National Singles Championship. Only persons, who were the members of United States National Lawn Tennis Association, could participate in the tournament.

The first Men?s doubles were held in 1900 which was a big step toward the sport development and influenced their lives. Later, there were many other different tournaments held, and by 1968 all of them were at last merged together. Since that time the US open looks like US open of nowadays.

The tournament usually takes place on the great stadiums in Queens. The stadium of Louis Armstrong was the biggest one, until the Arthur Ashe Stadium was completed. It was built in honor to the great African American tennis player, who won the inaugural US open, the very first US open tournament, the part of tennis open slam after the reuniting of all the parts. Arthur Ashe died of AIDS, because he was infected during the blood transfusion during the surgery.

Layton Hewitt, Lindsay Davenport, Kim Clijsters and Andy Roddick won the biggest money prizes, on the US open. The last US champion who won this tournament of tennis open slam was Serena Williams (2002) and Andy Roddick (2003).

Generally, the tennis open slam is the part of grand Slam tournaments that take places in the four countries during the year. The names of three of them are ?open? meaning that they are open for all who want to go and watch it and for those who want to take part in them.

There are no such classification parts of tennis open slam like all. All four goes with Grand Slam. There is no even Career Open Slam. The three open tournaments (US Open, French Open and Australian Open) are somehow similar to each other or refer to some of the constructional parts. That is reason why tennis open slam is not so popular, as it is expected.
