One of the most popular US boy bands, Backstreet Boys band was created by Lou Pearlman, an aviation entrepreneur. He was inspired by the success of other boy bands and decided to create its own. In 1992-1993, Pearlman held a number of auditions in which he selected Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Alexander James McLean, and, later on Sam Licata and Charles Edwards. Kevin Richardson was the last member of Backstreet boys - he joined the rest in March 1993.
Their first performance took place in May 1993 in front of three thousand teenagers. Pearlman did a huge work picking potential fans at school assemblies, shopping malls, etc. At long last Pearlman got the manager of New Kids on the Block Johnny Wright to manage Backstreet Boys. For the first time Pearlman tried to conclude a deal with Mercury Record and failed. Afterwards the band got Jive Records to sell their first single titled "We've Got It Goin' On" produced by Denniz PoP.
The single was unsuccessful in the United States reaching only number sixty nine in the Billboard charts while it was selling well in Europe. The guys received their first Gold disc in Germany. After this European success in 1995 Backstreet Boys release their first album titled "Backstreet Boys" in Europe and Canada hitting tops in many countries it was released in. Lou Pearlman and Jive Records got guys to work overseas for the next several years with rare tours.
1996 was a year of big change for Backstreet Boys as their European popularity grew to a greater extent. They were voted number one by TV viewers across Europe and the single "I`ll Never Break Your Heart" became golden in Austria and Germany. In 1997, Pearlman decided to bring the guys back to the United States where they released the new single "Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)". The single was rapidly sold platinum and hit #2 on the Billboard charts. It makes Backstreet Boys one of the most successful US boy bands ever.
In 1999, the guys received their first Diamond award and in May the new album "Millennium" was released. The album hit #1 in twenty five countries worldwide. "Millennium"was nominated for five Grammy Awards including Album of the Year. In 2000, the album titled "Black & Blue" came about and became an unanimous hit of the year. After a five year period Backstreet Boys launch their new single "Incomplete" and a new album "Never Gone" on June 14, 2005.
Nsync is also one of the most popular US boy bands. It was formed in 1996 in Orlando. Nsync`s members are Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and Justin Timberlake. The title of the band comes from the acronym for the last letter of each member's name. With the single "I Want You Back" and touring across America Nsync releases very popular "No Strings Attached" making it the best selling ever for the results of the first week. The album "Celebrity" amounted to nearly 1.8 million copies sold worldwide making Nsync one of the most popular US boy bands. In 2002, the members release their solo albums. The Greatest Hits album was released in 2005 hitting #47 on US charts.
