Pain is the patrol dog of our health. Any pain is a signal that means something is wrong. A toothache signals that something is wrong in the tooth tissues. If we do not stop the process it is possible that some serious complications will develop. And these complications may concern not only the teeth and oral cavity but the whole body.
If there are any problems in our tooth only dentist can help us. Herb tea or other home remedies can only stop the pain for so long, but cannot treat the tooth or prevent any complications from developing.
A signal to visit your dentists includes any spots on tooth crown or tooth enamel, black sulcus on masticatory surface or tooth treat sticking. The next signal can be toothache.
What are the main causes of a toothache? Someone punching you in the mouth is a good indicator. But the most frequent one is a cavity. Cavities result in tooth enamel damage, and tooth enamel saves the tooth from external factors. A toothache can appear when you eat something sweet like chocolate. The cavity in tooth reacts on hot or cold food or drink. As the cavity process develops; the pain becomes more intense and finally a toothache appears without any reason. The pain is stronger during the night. At this stage no anaesthetic can help. It means that there is a dental pulp inflammation.
A cavity needs to be filled, while the pulpit needs more extensive treatment. After anesthesia the nerve can be removed. But if there is a dental pulp inflammation it is very hard to perform an operation without anesthesia.
When the nerve is removed the toothache is stopped, but it does not mean that the treatment is stopped. The root canal is filled with special pastes and guttapercha points.
After the root canal has been performed, the tooth is filled and the treatment is ended. But your tooth is "dead" because it has no nerve.
But if you do not fill the pulpit treatment it may result in periodontitis. Its symptoms include pain during bite and a feeling of an ingrown tooth. It is caused by purulent effluent concentration in the top of the root. A dentist can uncover the tooth for its outflow and perform an antiinflammatory treatment. Then the tooth and the root canal are irrigated and the tooth is filled.
Periodontitis can result in maxillary sinusitis, periosteitis, abscess, phlegmon, osteomyelitis and mediastenit. Maxillitis is an inflammation of airway of upper jaw. It is natural that the purulent process can spread from the tops of masticatory teeth to maxillary sinus and an odontogenic maxillary sinusitis (caused by the tooth disease).
Periosteitis is periosteum inflammation. The symptoms are swelling and pain. If it is not treated it may result in an abscess (limited suppurative inflammation), phlegmon (general suppurative inflammation), or osteomyelitis (bone necrosis). They are a serious danger to the health. Mediastenit ( heard, trachea and esophagus inflammation) is very difficult to diagnosis and it is more difficult to see that the cause of the serious disease is teeth condition.
So, as you see it is better not to postpone your visit to the dentist. The earlier you visit him the easier your treatment will be.
