Infertility is a big problem - and not only on physical level. It brings with it a lot of psychological sufferings, too.
Infertility is, in fact, not that rare. In the United States, along about 6 million people experience some sort of infertility problem. World wide, this number is much bigger. But, in most cases, there is a way out and modern medicine can offer numerous solutions for that problem - including male and female surgial options.
The main thing in the case of infertility is to find the actual problem that causes infertility. As statistics show, in one third of all the infertility cases the cause is attributed to the female, in one third to male, in one third to both and in 10 percent of cases the origin of the problem is unknown. There is also the possibility of a so-called couple factor that causes infertility. So it is necessary to perform special tests for both man and woman to find out the problem. Numerous tests are now available to find the actual cause and choose the most appropriate way of treatment.
Once the cause of infertility is found, it is possible to choose the appropriate way of treatment. In most cases assisted reproductive methods, like IVF and ICSI, are used. Such technique as ovulation induction (to improve the production of eggs) is also pretty usual.
And, although in most cases, treatment is possible with the use of medication there are situations when such treatment is not possible (even intrauterine inseminations and ovarian drilling can have no effect). In all these cases female surgial options are used as treatment of female infertility.
Regular female surgial options include such procedures as hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, fallopean tube sterelization reversal and hydrosalpinx removal. There are also other surgical procedures but they are rarer. In fact, each case of infertility is individual and all the treatment methods need to be chosen accordingly. So all the female surgial options have to be a part of the medical evaluation. And, a personal approach is
needed to achieve better results.
In both hysteroscopy and laparoscopy special fiber optic device is used for observation. In case of hysteroscop,y this telescope is inserted into the female uterus through the cervix to look for adhesions inside the uterus. And laparoscopy is meant to look for adhesions in the pelvic cavity and sometimes remove ovarian cysts. These female surgial options are mostly used to diagnose the problem.
Reanastomosis (fallopean tube sterelization reversal) is the procedure that is meant to reconnect two ends of the fallopian tubes so as to reverse a previous sterilization process. Tubal sterilization is a common way of birth control in developed countries. But if a woman changes her mind and wants to get pregnant she needs a reversal surgical procedure. That makes fallopean tube sterelization reversal surgery pretty common or similar to the female surgial options.
Hydrosalpinx removal is used to increase IVF success rates. IVF is a pretty common procedure these days and its price is much lower now than it was before.
