The Importance of Dental Porcelain VeneersDental porcelain veneers have a thickness comparable with an eggshell, and can be applied in case of solving the problems of a chipped tooth, a tooth that is strongly painted, or one not equally set within the dental line. Further, we will look at disadvantages and advantages of veneers; in what cases they are shown, and in what are not present; and we will get acquainted with the process of their manufacturing and provisional cost.
During the last two decades, the stomatologists had the materials and were capable of being pasted to dental enamel for a long time. Gluing opportunities of such materials now are used reliably to attach a thin porcelain overlay to a forward wall of a tooth. The advantages of porcelain veneers application are numerous. Teeth with veneer overlays are very similar to a natural tooth. This means, that when light gets on a surface of a tooth, it is not reflected instantly, and passes through enamel, and subsequently is reflected from opaque structure of a tooth, which is under enamel. Property of a transparency gives to teeth their characteristic kind.
Historically, the ceramic slices accessible to stomatologists were only translucent. Therefore, when light got on a tooth, it did not penetrate further then the gluing layer, and was reflected from it. In addition, it turned out that the tooth lost the natural transparency and looked artificial. The dental porcelain veneers are glassy, and light penetrates through them. The effect of a transparency provides sensation of depth, and thus providing very natural appearance of a tooth.
The dental porcelain veneers are steady against coloring. It is not a secret, that the teeth of many people are susceptible to tea, coffee, to red wine and tobacco. The essential advantage of dental porcelain veneers is that they are simply porcelain, ceramics and consequently their glassy surface is extremely smooth and not permeable and won't be easily stained with painting substances.
Dental porcelain veneers are the ideal way for elimination of fine cosmetic defects, but they cannot be the decision in any situation. They are indicated for restoration of teeth with small scabbing and a rough surface, for concealment of seals that have changed the color, for restoration of a teeth with spots at people, which have transferred tetracycline, treatment, had been ill with dental fluorosis or which teeth have changed color because of a trauma or endodontic treatments.
The veneers provide an alternative for orthodontic treatment. They are frequently used for closing excessive intervals between teeth, and for alignment of dental lines. It can be much cheaper than braces. The result is much faster than braces and many people prefer veneers, especially young people. The reasons are in fast and effective result, long serviceability, a wide spectrum of application and availability for people of different income levels.
