In general, the intention of yoga is a unity with the Universe and harmony of physical, intellectual, emotional and mental aspects of any personality. This aim can be reached by several techniques. Some yoga schools focus on physical exercises i.e. asana, breathing and nutrition. Some yogis believe that the path to harmony lies through religion and mental practice.
Tibetan yoga schools are known thanks to the wonders made by their students such as mental projections and telepathic communication.
Tibetan yoga schools are based on different yoga systems which division is quite conditional.
Some Tibetan yoga schools are represented by Mantra yoga. It studies the influence of sound vibration. The yogis repeat mentally or verbally certain vowels. During this process the special vibrations are created. These vibrations positively effect physical and mental state of the person who pronounces this combination of sounds, which is called mantra.
There are several mantras. Some of them have a certain meaning, e.g. the name of God. But usually mantra is just a combination of sounds, which does not mean anything. The sounds are selected according to the vibrations produced during their pronunciation.
Modern medicine and biology have proved that vibrations of different levels influence our organism. It concerns also rhythms that come from the Space and rhythm of the Earth. Vibrations that appear during mantra pronunciation also influence our organism and are used now for cure and as a preventive method.
How does it happen? Why Tibetan yoga schools give so much attention to mantra and meditation?
When we pronounce repeatedly and continuously certain sounds it makes our tissues, organs and capillary vibrate. The blood circulation improves, tissues move and the effectiveness and speed of the processes of regeneration and recovery grows. In this case we stimulate our body for effective work and health.
Mantra also helps our mind to have a rest because when we pronounce mantra and concentrate on this process we digress from our problems, stresses, fixed thoughts, etc. So, Tibetan yoga schools also use mantra for mental development.
Tibetan yoga schools also use Kria yoga as it is aimed at inner and outer cleaning of the personality. According to this yoga system the person should get out of bad habits, negative temper, ignorance etc. and to cultivate positive features.
When we speak about Tibetan yoga schools we should note Naropa yogas.
Naropa was a man from one rich and noble Practicing family of Buddhists. He left the comfortable life to study and serve his God. Later after many years of work at the University and righteous life he left everyone to reach the enlightenment. His teaching is represented in 6 Naropa yogas - - that is the 6 lessons about the path to the enlightenment.
Some of Dalai Lamas are experts in 6 yogas of Naropa.
We should also tell about Tsa lung trul khor. It is a Tibetan yoga practice of physical exercises focused on breathing and mental concentration. The term means "magical movement and breathing".
Tibetan yoga schools also focus on Tantra yoga. Its main goal is to study the nature of contradictions' interaction and to reach the harmony with the help of special techniques and mantras.
