What we are looking for in the outdoor world is sunshine, vast natural territories and the site for our leasure activity. In this case, parks, gardens and beaches are getting the most credit. We flood these small territories of nature in search of rest and of course sunbathing. In every case different sun protection regulations are applied.
If you are doing beach sunbathing, you'd better not schedule the exposure nowhere between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. This is the time of the fiercest sun when the most dramatic damage is done to your skin. Beach sunbathing is great in the morning with gentle sun that lays a tan upon your skin ever so smoothly and little people around to distract you from your divine mission of getting bronzed up with as little skin damage as possible.
In the cursed midday hours it is better to get off the beach altogether - get a nap in the hotel room, enjoy an ice cream in a cafe or catch up on the novel you started reading the last time you were on a beach. If you are involved in some kind of beach leasure activity, wear a hat and sunglasses and don't forget to reapply the sunscreen often. The good thing about beach sunbathing is that there is always professional help around and if - God forbids - you get a sun stroke, the aid will be right with you.
If you are doing your beach sunbathing near a water body, it's great to dab on some waterproof SPF and actually get into the water or a swimming-pool. You'll still be getting a glamorous suntan, but will feel cooler after this leasure activity. By the way, sunbathing or participating in some kind of a leasure activity next to a water body requires extra sun-smart measures, as the water reflects the rays and just about doubles them.
Park and gardens sunbathing is a bit different. First of all, in most cases there's a close proximity of the natural shade - the trees. Poplar, maple, dogwood, cherry, birch and elm make excellent UV-blockers, so you might want to plant some of those in your own garden. Before going for park and gardens sunbathing, find out about exposure regulations in some particular places. Not all parks and public gardens allow the same amount of body exposure as beaches do, so you might have to settle for a shirt and shorts instead of a swim suit.
Find out if the park has covered playgrounds for children indulging in leisure activity on the territory. Instruct your kids on reapplying their high-SPF lotions and just let them to have fun. Pack hats, sunglasses and sunscreen with various SPF for everyone coming. Would be great to settle down next to some tent to retreat to for a break from the sun. During park and gardens sunbathing as well as leisure activity make sure to drink enough water to keep your body hydrated and to wear a hat at all times. Carry around a bottle of Aloe Vera or any other after-tan soothing lotion with moisturizing agents.
Sun is no obstacle for leisure activity and sunbathing if you arrive ready to rock. For an unforgettable pastime all you need is some common sense, nice company and a good mood - get all of this together and your vacation or weekend will be an amazing success.
