How can something as fun as swimming to be considered work? But in fact, swimming exists more as an occupation and less as a pastime in many countries. Swimming as work has the primary goal - to catch or collect a fish or other sea products under water with the naked or protected hands, with use of traps, harpoons, traps and other specially developed means. They are abalone and pearl divers and those who swim for scientific research. This may seem fun to the non-professional, but on closer examination it is not as easy as it seems.

The main component of special military forces training is the swimming, which being joined with a military activity is called military swimming. Swimming in military purposes executes both on the water surface and under the water and involves diving. Special forces as, for example, Navy SEALS, marines and sea police use military swimming to land troops, to gather military information and so on.
