It just may be the toughest of the four competitive swimming styles. The butterfly stroke utilizes the arms and legs but is an exhausting demonstration of fluidity when done correctly and for time. The butterfly stroke may also be the most difficult stroke to learn. The rhythm of using your arms, breathing and doing the flutter-kick uses all the body's muscles. It provides a great workout for the entire body regardless if your are a competitive swimmer or not.
