Some Facts About kids Sunscreens That Every Mother Should Know

A baby's skin is much gentler than the skin of adults. That's why it needs more care and protection. Being at the beach or simply spending your time with a baby outside in summer, don't forget the importance of applying kids sunscreen on your child's face and body. Choosing infant sunscreens can be difficult if you don't know what you're looking for. Remember that sunscreens for adults do not suit little babies. There are special baby sunscreens that should be used.

Everybody needs sun exposure; it is the first and most common way to feed our skin with vitamin D, which provides calcium, very important for our bones. Most kids spend almost every day outside and every mother knows how hard it can be to explain that it is necessary to go home right now for this or that reason. Kid's sunscreens must become your everyday-used things to protect your baby.

What should we know about the sun? For one thing, a part of the sunlight consists of ultraviolet. There are three types of UV rays: UVA, UVB and UVC. The most dangerous is the last type of rays and fortunately they are blocked by the ozone layer.

No matter what kind of skin your child has, dark or light, he needs a very good protection. So, what is the name for this protection? Kids sunscreens. Of course, kids sunscreens are not the one and only kind of protection for your child but in this article we shall talk about them. There are a lot of special baby sunscreens including ones for sensitive skins, creams and sprays and brands with scent of water melon and many others.

When buying kids sunscreens pay attention to a degree of protection from UV rays. Concentrate on the sun protection factor (SPF). For kids older than six months select a special baby sunscreen with SPF of 15 or even higher. Choose kids sunscreens that protect against UVA and UVB rays. For babies who might have an allergy do not buy sunscreens with PABA, fins one with the titanium dioxide.

Apply baby sunscreen generously about 25 - 30 minutes before getting outside. Don't forget about most sensitive areas, such ones as ears, neck, hands, feet and shoulders. The parts of body underneath swim suit shouldn't be forgotten, too. Having applied kids sunscreen once don't think that this should be enough for a whole day. Reapply the sunscreen after your child is swimming or sweating, which makes a period of time every two or three hours. Children need a protection that lasts for long time. Waterproof special baby sunscreens last up to 80 minutes while your baby is in water. There are also sweat-proof sunscreens.

Now let's talk about the most suitable sunscreens for our babies. Of course, the most effective way to protect your child from getting sunburned is to keep a baby out of the sun, but if there is no possibility to get inside, doctors recommend to use "chemical-free" sun block, the one made with titanium or zinc oxide.

Another important moment is choosing infant sunscreen. The most correct variant is not applying sunscreen to babies who are under six months of age. Newborns must be kept out of the sun when it is possible. But if you are outside and have to use sunscreen, apply small amount on hands and face. Keep your infant dressed in clothing that hides him for maximum from the sun rays, wear a hat with wide brims so that his face would be in shadow. Try to avoid surfaces that reflect the sun (sand, snow in mountains and water of course).

Either way, whether your baby is under an umbrella or is wearing a hat, do not forget about special baby sunscreens!

Remember, a child is a tender, little, helpless creature who needs your love and tenderness.
