At the end of the 20th century, American scientists took an interesting experiment: a group of people pledged not to wash themselves for a year! The results were quite astonishing. You would hardly believe it, but no one out of 50 people who partook in the experiment caught cold or got sick with flu. Besides, twelve people, who suffered heart-diseases before the experiment, forgot about their heart problems. Three people, suffering from ulcer, were relieved to find out that their ulcer cicatrized. And, by a miracle, a person suffering cataract recovered in just a year.
The exact reason for those miracles remains unknown, so lots of other experiments and extensive studies should be made before the final verdict is announced and the soap disadvantages declared. What can be stated with confidence, though, is that soap can be detrimental to your health. So, you should always think twice before taking a shower next time.
Two kinds of soap are known nowadays: bar soap and liquid soap, both having their side-effects. There is a large percentage of alkali in a bar soap. Besides, it may contain additive sodium laureth sulfate. Thus, while cleaning the skin, a bar soap can deprives the skin of a protective layer. Moreover, alkali does not allow chemists to add useful nutrients designed to smooth the skin. A bar soap contacting water produces insoluble elements, which create a coat on the skin and does not let it breathe. Thus, a bar soap can be used for cleaning hands, but should be avoided with sensitive skin, such as on face, body, or hair.
At the end of the 20th century chemists invented liquid soap, and many soap disadvantages seemed to be immediately removed. The statistics show us that roughly 50% of people all over the world use liquid soap. They surely do not know that, in reality, liquid soap, too, can have ordinary soap disadvantages, i.e. produce negative effects - though not as strong as a bar soap. The most obvious advantage of cleaning oneself with liquid soap is that this kind of soap cleans the skin carefully without depriving it of the protective lipid layer. It is certainly pleasant for use, as it makes lots of foam. Vitamins and aroma ingredients can be added to liquid soap to make the time spent in a shower pleasant and leave delicate aroma on the skin. The perfumery most commonly added to soaps contains citrus, bergamot, anise, apples, cinnamon, o name just a few aromatic substances. One type of liquid soap is cream-soap, which is richer in vegetable fat and can be used with irritated skin, such as after sun-burning, deep peeling or depilation.
Recently, a hand-made soap has been created. It has become very popular, since it has fewer detrimental effects, that is fewer ordinary soap disadvantages. A hand-made soap is a type of bar soap; however, it is produced in a more sophisticated way. It is tender and cares about the skin very effectively. It can even be used as shave foam for men who have sensitive skin. Hand-made soap contains all the necessary vitamins, oils and other nutrients. This kind of soap is not cheap, but is highly effective. Remember that anyone can find a type of soap that suits his or her skin and can make the time spent in a bathroom incredibly enjoyable.
